Job summary

Mental Health Association in East Orange, New Jersey seeks an unarmed Security Guard with SORA certification to support the Prospect House Program.

Qualifications

• Current SORA certification is required.
• Experience in security, corrections, or law enforcement preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License in good standing; able to operate a 12-passenger van.
• Ability to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for members and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Open the building by 6:45 a.m. and prepare for daily operations.
• Perform regular tours to ensure safety and security.
• Unlock and secure activity areas and parking lot gates.
• Check thermostats to maintain comfort.
• Greet members and visitors, oversee sign-in/logs, notify staff of visitors.
• Receive deliveries and notify staff for distribution.
• Assist with phones, transportation, errands, and daily van transport logs.
• Coordinate and document monthly fire drills with the Program Director.
• Close and secure the facility, including locking doors and windows.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
