Job summary

Parkland Health seeks a certified cardiac sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound imaging of the heart in a hospital setting. The role requires completing an allied health education program in Cardiac ultrasound and ARDMS/CCI registration within six months of hire.

Candidate should have or be pursuing the necessary CPR certifications and possess the ability to operate diverse ultrasound equipment while communicating effectively with patients and clinical staff.

Requirements
Education
  • Must have successfully completed an allied health education program in Cardiac ultrasound. Accreditation required within six (6) months after hire.
Experience
  • A minimum of one year of cardiac ultrasound experience in a hospital setting is preferred. All experience levels will be considered.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience
  • A minimum of one year of cardiac ultrasound experience in a hospital clinical setting, OR
  • Successful completion of an allied health education program in Cardiac ultrasound. Accreditation required within six (6) months after hire.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
  • Cardiac sonographers should be registered as a Sonographer by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) with current active status at the time of hire or must obtain within 6 (six) months of employment.
  • Must have a current Healthcare Provider (BLS Level) CPR course completion card prior to hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:
  • American Heart Association
  • American Red Cross Rescuer
  • Military Training Network
Skills Or Special Abilities
  • Must be able to operate various types of ultrasound equipment used in performing procedures.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of both normal and abnormal anatomy.
  • Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
