Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Sonographer to perform vascular imaging in compliance with scope and standards and in line with the organization’s mission and values. The role emphasizes patient education, safety, and accurate reporting of scan results.

Graduates of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography program with RDMS certification within 3 months of graduation and BLS for Healthcare Providers are preferred. This on-site role offers standard hospital benefits.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification within 3 months of graduation.
  • BLS for healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports changes as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs quality control on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and reports equipment malfunctions.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedures.
  • Analyzes results and identifies image quality issues.
  • Takes action to resolve image quality issues and repeats procedures when needed.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Performs vascular sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities:


  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.

  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.

  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.

  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.

  • Prepares equipment and supplies.

  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.

  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.

  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).

  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.

  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.

  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography program

Certification


  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with one credential (RDMS) within 3 months of graduation, new graduates need Certificate of Completion from the college

  • BLS for healthcare providers


Preferred

  • One year experience in vascular imaging
