Job summary

Medical Faculty Associates, Inc. in Washington, DC seeks a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to perform high-quality obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations and related procedures.

You will become proficient in the imaging and recording system used by the department. This PRN position requires ARDMS in OB/GYN, FMF first-trimester NT certification within one year, and ongoing CME credits for ARDMS registration.

Qualifications

  • Active ARDMS in OB/GYN.
  • Minimum of two years of ultrasound experience.
  • FMF certification for first trimester NT within one year of hire.
  • Maintenance of CME credits for ARDMS registration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform gynecologic ultrasound examinations and procedures with appropriate setup and patient positioning.
  • Perform obstetric ultrasound examinations including fetal biometry, Doppler studies, and related assessments.
  • Generate and send examination reports to referring physicians.
  • Submit billing with appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
  • Demonstrate techniques to students and residents as assigned by the department.

Description

Perform high quality obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations and procedures. Become well trained in the use and daily maintenance of the ultrasound imaging and recording system used in the department.


This position is a PRN position.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.



  • For gynecologic ultrasound examinations and procedures: Sets up ultrasound and procedure equipment; positions patient appropriately; operates ultrasound with or without physician guidance when appropriate (including but not limited to SIS)

  • For obstetric ultrasound examinations and procedures: Sets up ultrasound and procedure equipment; positions patient appropriately; operates ultrasound with or without physician guidance when appropriate (including but not limited to, amniotic fluid assessment, fetal viability, limited - detailed - and complete obstetric ultrasound, biometry and fetal wellbeing assessments, fetal Doppler studies, fetal echocardiograms, CVS, amniocentesis, first trimester screening). Processes and labels sample for laboratory submission.

  • Generates reports on examinations and procedures and insures that they are sent to the referring physician.

  • Submits billing for patients with appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.

  • Demonstrates techniques and procedures to students and residents as assigned through the Department of OB/GYN.



Requirements


Education


  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Bachelor of Science degree or Health-Related degree desirable



Certification with Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) to perform first trimester nuchal translucency for risk assessment within one year of hire.



Maintenance of required CME credits for registration with ARDMS is necessary.



Experience


  • Active certification by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in OB/GYN.

  • Minimum of two years of experience as an ultrasound technologist is necessary



Maternal fetal medicine experience preferred.
