Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking a registered OB/Gyn sonographer to perform high-quality maternal-fetal ultrasound imaging in our MFM settings under physician supervision. The role emphasizes adherence to AIUM/ACOG protocols and precise documentation.

The ideal candidate holds RDMS OB/GYN, BLS for Allied Health, and has at least one year of high-risk OB/Gyn imaging experience, with strong patient communication and safety mindset.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an Accredited Ultrasound training program.
  • RDMS in Obstetrics and Gynecology required and must maintain CE requirements.
  • Minimum of 1 year in high risk or office-based OB/GYN ultrasound diagnostics and procedures.
  • Certification in RDMS OB/GYN and BLS for Allied Health required.

Responsibilities

  • Produces high quality study images & data by demonstrating advanced competence and proper use of imaging equipment.
  • Follows testing protocols as established by the Medical Director in accordance with AIUM & ACOG.
  • Provides ultrasound guided assistance to the physician during procedures.
  • Assesses the patient's physical and psychosocial needs and prepares patient for each test.
  • Confirms appropriateness of supporting information and documentation for the exam being performed.
  • Maximizes services and maintains the workflow and assists others as needed.
  • Follows Infection Control policies and safety procedures.

Job Description


The registered Ob/Gyn sonographer performs clinical imaging duties at MFM offices and works under the general direction of the physician and/or supervision of the clinical manager. This position requires competencies in a variety of OB procedures, performing ultrasound examinations in accordance with AIUM and ACOG guidelines and protocols specializing in Maternal Fetal Medicine. The responsibilities include quality care of patients, accurate record keeping, care of equipment and other duties as assigned.


Responsibilities


  • Produces high quality study images & data by demonstrating advanced competence and proper use of imaging and accessory equipment.

  • Follows testing protocols as established by the Medical Director in accordance with AIUM & ACOG

  • Provides ultrasound guided assistance to the physician during procedures

  • Assesses the patient's physical and psychosocial needs and prepares patient for each test

  • Confirms appropriateness of supporting information and documentation for the exam being performed

  • Maximizes services and maintains the workflow, performs assignments within the established time duration and actively helps others when needed.

  • Health Stream Education, complies with annual hospital and departmental safety and in-service requirements on time (i.e. STAT)

  • Follows all Infection Control policies and procedures


Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an Accredited Ultrasound training program. Associates or bachelor's degree in Ultrasound/ Allied Health preferred.


RDMS in related ultrasound specialty (OB/GYN) required and must maintain the minimum continuing education requirements of the registry and ACR/ AIUM as appropriate.


Years of Experience: Minimum of 1 year in high risk or office-based OB/GYN ultrasound diagnostics and procedure.


Required Skills and Knowledge:


  • The ability to perform the routine procedures and real time techniques of the specialty, including M-mode, pulse and color doppler, and have a good grasp of fetal and cross-sectional anatomy and medical terminology

  • The skill set to provide relevant technical information about the exam to the interpreting physician.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills to interact positively and constructively with patients and staff both in person and by telephone as needed


Licenses & Certifications

This position requires certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Obstetrics and Gynecology. BLS for Allied Health Certification.
