Job summary

Cayuga Health in Ithaca, NY is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist/Sonographer for full-time days and evenings with FLEX. The role includes performing ultrasound and vascular exams, assisting interventional procedures, and on-call duties. Vascular experience is preferred but not required.

Light travel to nearby sites may be involved; travel 5%–15% is possible. Competitive pay with sign-on bonus available to external applicants.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited ultrasound program or current RDMS/RVT registration.
• 1–2 years of ultrasound experience preferred but not required.
• RDMS and/or RVT certification or RDMS/RVT eligible.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform basic maintenance on ultrasound equipment.
• Follow ALARA guidelines for radiation exposure.
• Adhere to department policies and exam protocols.
• Stock linens and supplies as needed in the department.
• Maintain CPR certification and relevant RVMS/RVT credentials.

The Sonographer will perform a variety of ultrasound and vascular exams and assist with multiple interventional procedures. It is necessary to have extensive knowledge and understanding of ultrasound including but not limited to anatomy, pathology, and ultrasound physics. The employee will need to demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality care combined with excellent customer service. An employee will be expected to perform on-call duties as assigned and be flexible as workload demands. Employees must demonstrate a willingness to learn and teach others. The ability to work effectively with the direct team and other departments is extremely necessary. Vascular experience preferred but not required.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Exhibits an ability to operate and preform basic maintenance of the Philips Epiq, Philips CX-50, Parks Flo lab, Trophon unit and Hokanson device
• Follows guidelines for radiation exposure (ALARA)
• Adheres to policies and protocols for exams and procedures
• Preforms ancillary tasks in department such as stocking linen and supplies.
• Maintains CPR certification, RDMS and RVT certification, continuing education credits and updated licensures.

Required Skills And Experience

• Education - Completion of accredited school and/or currently registered.
• Experience - 1-2 years' experience preferred but not necessary.
• Licensure - RDMS and/or RVT certified or RDMS/RVT eligible

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred
• Good written and oral communication skills preferred.
• Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.

Physical Requirements

• May require light lifting and carrying, including boxes, equipment, stooping and kneeling, maybe required to lift up to 30 pounds. Must pass color-blindness test. Repetitive use of hands (eg. computer keyboard usage), sitting, walking or standing for long periods of time is often necessary; must be able to physically operate automation used in the job.

Location and Travel Requirements

• Based at Cayuga Medical Center - 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850. May be scheduled to support patient needs at various area locations as required, including, but not limited to East Campus and Cayuga Park. Rotating through locations expected. Call coverage applies.
• Shift: Full-Time Days/Evenings FLEX. 3 12 hour shifts or 5 8hr shifts. Variety of shifts, hours vary depending on location.
• 5% to 15% area travel may be expected

Pay Range Disclosure

• Standard Rate of $40.06 to $59.29 per hour plus Benefits
• Shift differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends according to scheduled shift
