Job summary

Solis Mammography in Lafayette, LA seeks a Breast Sonographer to perform independent ultrasound exams and support radiologists with high-quality studies. The role emphasizes patient care, precise imaging, and adherence to safety protocols in a busy breast imaging setting.

Ideal candidates are ARDMS/ARRT certified, graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, and able to stand for long periods. Full-time schedule Mon-Thu 7:00–4:30, Fri 7:30–2:00, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is required.
• Active ARDMS or ARRT(S) certification is required with CME compliance.
• Ability to stand for long periods and operate ultrasound equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasound equipment independently to create diagnostic images.
• Maintain accurate positioning and scanning technique for each exam.
• Communicate with patients and relay relevant information to radiologists.
• Chaperone radiologist during ultrasound biopsies and ensure sterile technique.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform basic maintenance.

Work Location: Lafayette, LA

Work Hours: Full Time | M-TH 7-4:30pm, Fri 7:30-2:00

The Breast Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements. Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique. Communicates with the patient and relays any pertinent information to the radiologist and documents on tracking sheet/chart. Communicates with the radiologist and understands and performs any necessary additional exams.

Here is what you will need:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. For exceptions and training outside the US, educational requirements will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and require HR approval.
• Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS (SPI only is not eligible for hire) or ARRT(S). ARRT-BS is also acceptable if performing breast sonography only. Current compliance with CME requirements. Exceptions require HR approval.
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.
• Physical demands: Needs to be able to stand for long periods of time.

A Day in the Life of a Breast Sonographer

• Provide services and support for the following areas:
• Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
• Produceshigh-qualityultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam
• Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly
• Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation
• Appropriate monitoring during all phases of the procedure with special care taken toensurepatient emotional and physical well-being
• Assist and/or chaperones radiologist when they are performing ultrasound exams
• Assists radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile technique and universal precautions
• Communicates patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients and to referring physicians’ offices as required.
• Maintains the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness andensuresproper equipment maintenance and equipment safety
• Maintains a good working relationship with Radiologists and other Center staff members
