Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a PRN Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at the High Point area facility in North Carolina. The role requires ARDMS/ARRT (S) certification, AB or OB/GYN registries, and a certified BLS provider to perform ultrasound exams under radiologist guidance.

Qualified graduates from Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs will contribute to quality care, equipment safety, and patient-centered service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Certification by ARDMS or ARRT (S) is required.
• One of Abdomen (AB) or OB/GYN registries is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program is required.

Responsibilities

• Examines requests and verifies orders for assigned patients.
• Assists Radiologist in invasive procedures as needed.
• Evaluates exam quality and optimizes technique for efficiency.
• Supports Patient-Centered Care philosophy and treats patients with professionalism.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor or engineer.
• Operates Radiology information system for exams and supplies.

What You'll Need:

• Certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (S).
• One of the following registries are required: Abdomen (AB), or Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN).
• BLS certification is required.
• Graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program required in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or General Ultrasound.

What You'll Do:

• Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient.

• Assists Radiologist in performing invasive procedures.
• Evaluates technical quality of exam and develops a superior varied technique for elevated efficiency in the department.
• Supports and contributes to the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy by understanding that every staff member is a Caregiver, whose role is to meet the needs of each patient.
• Reports malfunctioning equipment to the Assistant Director, Lead Sonographer and/or Engineer.
• Operates the Radiology computer system to include entering and charging exams and supplies.
• Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Assists in keeping the area completely stocked.
• Adheres to departmental rules and regulations while performing in a professional manner always.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Requires strenuous physical effort while assisting patients from wheelchairs and stretchers.
• Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance.
• Work requires walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting during normal operation.
• Requires mental skills to read and comprehend patient orders and technical materials.
• Motor coordination needed to operate heavy and delicate equipment.
• Intact sense of sight and hearing
