Solutions Engineer – Radio Frequency Geolocation (RFGL)

Join to apply for the Solutions Engineer – Radio Frequency Geolocation (RFGL) role at Spire.

Role Overview

As an RFGL Sales Engineer, you will support technical engagements related to Spire’s RF geolocation capabilities, focusing on signals intelligence (SIGINT) and emitter geolocation services for US and allied government customers. You will collaborate with account executives and product teams to understand mission needs, craft solutions, and help accelerate deal closure. Your expertise will be vital in supporting national security and ISR missions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Serve as the technical contact for RFGL prospects and customers throughout the sales process.
  2. Design solutions for RF geolocation using Spire’s LEO-based TDOA/FDOA capabilities.
  3. Deliver technical presentations, demos, and documentation to showcase RFGL value.
  4. Coordinate with engineering, RF operations, and product teams to define customer requirements.
  5. Translate customer mission objectives into technical configurations and SLAs.
  6. Act as a subject matter expert on space-based RF collection and signals analysis workflows.
  7. Identify technical gaps and support roadmap development for RFGL.
  8. Assist in pricing, proposals, and data trials in collaboration with sales teams.
  9. Support government tenders, RFPs, and partner engagements focused on RF intelligence.
Required Skills
  • Experience in SIGINT, RF engineering, or satellite ISR domains.
  • Proven success in pre-sales, solutions architecture, or systems integration.
  • Knowledge of RF spectrum operations, TDOA/FDOA, GNSS signals, and VHF/UHF/L-band emitters is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex ideas to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment supporting US and international defense clients.
  • Proficiency in Linux and scripting tools like Python for RF data analysis.
  • Knowledge of space systems, payloads, satellite tasking, and ground processing is a plus.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with US government RF intelligence programs (e.g., NRO, NGA, DoD).
  • Hands-on experience with tools like IQEngine, MATLAB, or RF signal simulators.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based RF data processing (AWS, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of multi-INT fusion including AIS, radar, and GNSS.
  • Experience responding to RFI/RFPs in defense or intelligence sectors.

This role requires a hybrid work model with at least three days in the office weekly. Access to US export-controlled technology may be required, with licenses arranged by Spire. We welcome applications from transitioning service academy graduates and value diverse experiences.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $145,000—$225,000 USD, depending on location and experience. Additional benefits include equity awards, vacation, health coverage, 401(K), wellness programs, and employee stock purchase plans.
