Solutions Developer

Overview

KS&R’s Decision Sciences & Innovation (DS&I) team is seeking a solutions developer to help lead initiatives that enhance our internal capabilities and support our diverse client portfolio. Core responsibilities include identifying, developing and implementing process improvements and automation solutions across the organization. This role also involves supporting generative AI and LLM implementation, maintaining and enhancing BI tools, refactoring code, developing R packages, managing data collection, and extending software capabilities. Progress and updates will be shared with stakeholders and senior leadership, including presenting and advocating for new solutions. As the role evolves, you’ll help ensure KS&R remains at the forefront of business analytics and innovation in support of fact-based decision‑making. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong learning agility, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for data driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support planning, development, and execution of initiatives that implement new methods, enhance internal processes, and automate manual workflows.
• Identify unmet needs by working directly with internal stakeholders.
• Gain support from internal stakeholders to ensure successful rollouts of solutions.
• Work collaboratively with teams company wide.
• Incorporate feedback (iteratively develop and re‑design solutions).
• Adapt to changing objectives as the direction of work evolves.

Requirements

• A master’s degree (Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Science, etc.).
• 5+ years’ experience in a relevant field.
• Expertise in R programming, with deep experience in tidyverse workflows for data wrangling, visualization, and reporting.
• Experience with version control systems (Git/GitHub/GitLab), including branching, pull requests, and collaborative workflows.
• Experience designing and implementing AI/ML‑based data products (e.g., predictive models, generative outputs, or applied machine learning solutions).
• Ability to develop, test, and document production‑quality code in collaborative settings.
• Familiarity with reproducible data science practices and tooling (e.g., R Markdown, Quarto, renv, Docker, or similar tools).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical solutions into practical outcomes for diverse audiences.
• Comfort with big, open‑ended projects with many workable solutions.
• Strong time management and prioritization with the ability to work through a variety of concurrent projects.
• Collaborative mentality and ability to work with a variety of personalities and styles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven applications of generative AI and LLMs.
• Experience developing and deploying Shiny applications for interactive data products through Posit Connect.
• Knowledge of API development and integration, including building R‑based APIs (plumber) or working with external APIs (httr2).
• Experience in R package development for internal or public use.
• Experience with Python for data science or ML tasks.
