Job summary

Designed Conveyor Systems (DCS) is seeking a Sr. Solutions Design Engineer, D&F, to apply material handling automated systems and layout expertise to meet client processing goals.

You will turn concepts into functioning designs that support our Sales and Pre-Contract team and participate in Customer meetings as a trusted advocate. The role rewards a creative, solutions-driven approach with strong mechanical design and automation knowledge, plus extensive teamwork.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Material Handling system design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Expertise in AutoDesk/AutoCAD drafting software.
• Experience with material handling equipment OEMs software drawing packages.
• Extensive knowledge about automated material handling equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with system simulation.
• Experience leading system pricing estimation.
• Experience across all phases of the project lifecycle from concepting to implementation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to defend solutions to customers.

• Provide technical Sales assistance to convert concepts into integration projects.

In this role, you will:

• Determine throughput capabilities and right-size equipment applications
• Support the development of equipment lists and equipment pricing
• Compare layout designs to determine the best overall approach
• Deliver findings to intercompany groups and the Customer
• Provide technical Sales assistance in support of converting the concept solution into an integration project.
• Work with intercompany groups to support proposal development
• Work with intercompany groups to further develop proposals into execution

We’re Excited About You Because:

• You have 10+ years of Material Handling system design experience
• You have a Bachelor’s degree (Engineering preferred)
• You have expertise in AutoDesk/AutoCAD drafting software
• You’re experienced with material handling equipment OEMs software drawing packages
• You have extensive knowledge about a wide range of automated material handling equipment
• You know how to work within Microsoft Suite
• You work well under pressure and with urgency
• You have some experience working with system simulation
• You have extensive experience leading system pricing estimation
• You have experience at all phases of the project lifecycle from concepting through implementation
• You possess good written and verbal communication skills. You can demonstrate how to deliver and defend the solution to the Customer leading to a implementation opportunity
• You have extensive experience supporting design/sales presentations
• You’re a creative problem solver with a capacity to imagine
• You work hard, you work well with others, and you’ve got a positive attitude
