Job description

Chantilly, Virginia, United States

Position Title: Solutions Architect, Senior

What Impact You'll Have

GRVTY is hiring a Senior Solutions Architect to support a program focused on building an enterprise-scale data management and analytics framework for geospatial intelligence products. This is a ground-floor development effort the system doesn't exist yet, and you will play a central role in designing it.

The work spans data pipeline architecture, IV&V framework design, and the integration of analytical tooling across NGA's classified and unclassified networks. You will be responsible for defining how the pieces fit together: how data moves from source systems into processing pipelines, how validation metrics are ingested and stored, and how results are surfaced to end users through a front-end toolbox. The architecture has to work across multiple NGA environments at different classification levels, and it has to meet IC deployment and compliance standards at each stage.

This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, software architecture, and government IT compliance. It requires someone who can hold the full technical picture while communicating clearly with government stakeholders, software developers, and data engineers and who can produce architecture documentation that survives the program beyond their own tenure on it.

What You'll be Owning
  • Lead system architecture design defining the end-to-end structure covering GEOINT data ingest pipelines, IV&V metrics ingestion, data outputs and storage, and the toolbox front-end UI.
  • Translate mission requirements and PWS deliverables into concrete technical solutions, integration strategies, and implementation roadmaps the development team can execute against.
  • Evaluate candidate IV&V system architectures for scalability, repeatability, and effectiveness across NGA's classified and unclassified environments; document trade-offs and limitations clearly.
  • Drive architecture decisions for deployment at both unclassified and TS/SCI classification levels, and to NGA CORE ensuring SWAP approval compliance and DoD/IC standards adherence at each stage.
  • Work directly with software developers, data engineers, and the government COR/ACOR to ensure that architectural intent carries through into implementation.
  • Define integration strategies for connecting to existing GEOINT data sources as mission needs evolve.
  • Establish the technology roadmap for program enhancement cycles, anticipating capability growth and architectural evolution as the toolbox matures.
  • Support SWAP approval processes, security compliance reviews, and configuration management protocols required for deployment to IC networks.
  • Contribute to technical documentation architecture diagrams, system design documents, deployment procedures at a level of clarity that survives personnel transitions.
  • Participate in stakeholder technical exchanges, working groups, and capability demonstrations; present architecture decisions and trade study findings to government customers.
What You Must Have
  • Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI and CI polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 9+ years of professional experience in solutions architecture, systems engineering, or related technical roles, with demonstrated responsibility for end-to-end system design on delivered programs.
  • Experience designing and implementing multi-tier architectures spanning data ingestion, processing pipelines, storage, and user-facing applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate operational or mission requirements into technical architecture not just diagrams, but implementable designs that development teams can build from.
  • Familiarity with deployment to classified government networks and the compliance requirements associated with IC systems (SWAP approval, DoD/IC security standards, configuration management).
  • Experience working directly with government customers or CORs in a technical lead capacity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication capable of producing government-quality architecture documentation and presenting technical content to non-technical stakeholders.
What Would be Nice to Have
  • Direct experience with NGA systems, networks, or programs particularly familiarity with NGA RLE, NGA CORE, GRiD, NCL, or GEGD.
  • Experience architecting GEOINT data management systems, IV&V frameworks, or geospatial analytics platforms.
  • Background in cloud architecture within IC or DoD environments, including multi-classification-level deployments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and DevSecOps practices in classified or air-gapped environments.
  • Familiarity with NGA's SWAP approval process and associated security accreditation workflows.
  • Experience designing front-end tooling or visualization platforms that surface analytical results to end users.
  • Background in data pipeline architecture ingestion, transformation, storage, and dissemination of large-scale geospatial or imagery datasets.
  • Experience developing or reviewing software architecture documentation to DoD or IC standards.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant technical field.
