Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect (Limited-Term) to join the Application Development and Support Department, where they will design, implement, and govern enterprise technology solutions across a diverse portfolio of applications, cloud platforms, integrations, and business systems. This role translates business needs into secure, scalable, and sustainable technology solutions while providing technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle. The position requires hands‑on technical engagement, including reviewing code, assessing vendor technical artifacts, evaluating API and integration designs, prototyping solution approaches, and troubleshooting complex application and integration issues. Working closely with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors, and technology staff, the Solutions Architect will help develop technical standards, review technical designs, guide integration strategies, support enterprise modernization initiatives, and provide oversight of vendor‑delivered solutions to help ensure long‑term maintainability and operational sustainability. A primary focus of this role will be helping guide SCAG's transition to a new cloud ERP platform, with responsibility for ERP integration architecture, data flows, APIs, middleware or iPaaS technologies, vendor technical design review, and sustainable support models for connected enterprise systems.
The Application Development and Support Department manages SCAG's enterprise application portfolio and supports multiple agency initiatives. The department develops, manages, tests, supports, maintains, and consults on applications that include regional metropolitan planning systems, finance and administrative support systems, and public‑facing information‑sharing systems. Current applications and technologies include Microsoft Great Plains (GP),WorkPlace, Enterprise BI, Microsoft CRM, custom Inter‑Government Review (IGR), custom Finance Management Systems (FMS), Microsoft Dynamics 365, ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, ServiceNow, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

As part of our Work@SCAGpolicy, employees are eligible for two work models: in‑office and hybrid. Eligibility for these models will depend on the department, position, responsibilities, and duties, as determined by management. All work models require employees to reside within the SCAG region. This position is expected to follow the hybrid model and be in office 2 days per week.

A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be with 7 years of experience in Information Technology and a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
