Solutions Analyst

Full Time Draper Office HQ, Draper, UT, US

2 days ago Requisition ID: 1384

Job Type:

  • Full Time
  • Onsite at the Studio McGee | McGee & Co. HQ Office located in Draper, Utah
  • Reports To: Director, Technology & Strategic Operations

Who We Are:

Founded in 2014, Studio McGee, Inc. is one of the fastest growing home design brands in America. Our journey began with a thriving interiors business that focused on approachable, yet aspirational design. By leveraging the power of digital communities, we were able to expand our footprint in the interior design industry through an unconventional approach that connected us with our consumers. We continued to carry that forward-thinking attitude into the launch of our retail business, McGee & Co., which anchors the operational and revenue growth of our company. Our licensing partnerships allow us to further expand our design voice beyond our own collection. From a multi-year partnership with Target to an Emmy-nominated Netflix Series and a NY Times Best-Selling book, Studio McGee's passion is to empower people to design with an approachability that enhances their daily life and elevates their everyday. Whether following us on social media or becoming part of our company, we invite you to join us on our mission to “Make Life Beautiful.”

About the Role:

Technology at Studio McGee exists to help every team do more with the systems and tools we already have. This role is the front door to that. You’ll be a business-facing problem-solver who sits with departments across the company, including design, product development, purchasing, warehousing and logistics, inventory, order support, and marketing. You’ll understand how they work and help them solve real problems using our systems and AI tooling. Most of what you’ll solve won’t require any engineering at all; increasingly, the best solution is a smarter workflow, a reconfigured system, or an AI automation someone can run themselves. When a problem genuinely needs to be built, you’ll scope it cleanly and hand it to our engineering team.

You’ll report to our Director of Technology & Strategic Operations and work closely with our CEO on high-priority opportunities to improve how the business operates, particularly where technology, systems, AI, and process intersect.

The measure of your success isn’t how many requests you close; it’s how capable the business becomes. When a department can run its own solution a quarter after you’ve helped them, you’ve done the job.

This is a generalist role by design — you’ll move between departments and problem types rather than owning one system. But it’s worth being direct about one thing: we are a design brand with a real physical supply chain behind it, and a meaningful share of the problems you’ll solve live in that world. You don’t need to be a supply chain specialist. You do need enough operational grounding to be credible and useful in a receiving conversation as quickly as you are in a marketing one.

What You'll Do:

A Solutions Analyst bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions, playing a crucial role in identifying, analyzing, and implementing technological and process improvements within the organization. They combine technical expertise with business acumen to translate complex requirements into practical solutions.

Solutions Analysts work closely with stakeholders at all levels to assess business needs, propose innovative solutions, and ensure successful implementation. They serve as a key liaison between business units and technical teams, facilitating communication and ensuring that solutions align with organizational objectives while maintaining technical feasibility.

  • Partner with the Director of Technology & Strategic Operations to serve as a business-facing resource for “can we do this?” and “this process is painful” questions across the company, helping triage opportunities and determine the right path forward.
  • Learn how a department actually works before proposing anything — including walking the floor, watching the workflow, and asking the questions nobody wrote down
  • Map processes end to end and find where time, data, and margin are leaking, especially where work hands off between teams or systems
  • Solve problems in-tool wherever possible: better workflows, system reconfiguration, and AI/automation solutions that don’t require engineering
  • Design and set up AI-assisted solutions (prompting, agents, automations) and coach people to operate them independently
  • Train departments to own their solutions, leaving behind documentation and capability rather than a dependency on tech
  • Scope genuine engineering needs and partner with our systems engineers to see them through
  • Track adoption: make sure the solutions you deliver are actually used and owned by the business over time

What We're Looking For:

  • A generalist problem-solver who can work across many systems rather than going deep on one
  • Operational grounding in a physical-product business — enough working knowledge of supply chain, logistics, warehousing, inventory, and product development to understand the constraints our operations teams live with and design solutions that hold up in the real world
  • Strong fluency with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT), including prompting and a working understanding of agents and automation
  • The ability to translate a messy business problem into a clear solution, and to explain it to non-technical people
  • A coaching instinct: you’d rather teach someone to fish than fish for them
  • Enough technical literacy to know when something needs real engineering, and how to hand it off well
  • Curiosity that travels — you pick up a new domain quickly and aren’t precious about which department’s problem you’re working on this month
  • Prior experience in or close to one of our domains (retail/e-commerce operations, warehousing/logistics, product development, design, or marketing systems) is a strong plus

Why this role is unique

This is a highly cross-functional role with visibility across Studio McGee. You’ll work alongside leaders and teams throughout the business, from the receiving dock and product development to our storefront, design teams, and marketing organization. You’ll also work closely with our Director of Technology & Strategic Operations and CEO on opportunities to make the company smarter, faster, and more capable through better processes, systems, and AI.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 3–6+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, solutions consulting, business operations, or a similar cross-functional role
  • Exposure to the operational systems that run a physical-product business — ERP, warehouse or order management, inventory planning, or product development tooling — as a configurer, analyst, or power user rather than a passive end user
  • Working familiarity with core operational concepts such as purchase orders and lead times, receiving, inventory accuracy, allocation and backorders, order fulfillment, and returns
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and project management software
  • Basic understanding of requirements gathering and documentation
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies
  • Strong understanding of business process modeling and mapping
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated stakeholder and project management abilities
  • Strong understanding of AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT
  • Agentic mindset required: defining processes, then setting up automations to enable the use of AI and systems with business logic

What this Role is Not:
This is not an engineering role, and it’s not a help desk. You won’t spend your days building integrations or maintaining systems; our engineering team owns that. It’s also not a supply chain or operations management role — we want you to understand that side of the business deeply enough to solve problems in it, not to own the forecast, the freight, or the warehouse. And you won’t be taking ownership of departments’ processes on their behalf. Your job is to make the business more capable, not to become the person who runs their work for them.

Benefits:

  • Open PTO
  • 401k with company match up to 4% of compensation
  • Team Member discount at mcgeeandco.com + access to Team Member only warehouse sales
  • Opportunity to be part of a vibrant, inclusive, and innovative team

McGee is proud to be an equal opportunity employer - we see the beauty of celebrating our teams' differences, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status. Together we Make Life Beautiful.
