SOLUTION CONSULTANT, DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Join Belden Inc. as a Solution Consultant in Digital Infrastructure, based in the Northeast (New York or New Jersey). The role focuses on designing infrastructure solutions to enable Data Acquisition and Transmission (DAT) in industrial and enterprise environments.
Job Summary
As a member of Belden’s Technical Solutions & Services Team, the Solution Consultant (SC) develops Infrastructure Solutions that enable DAT. The SC works closely with Solution Sales Managers, Digital Automation Consultants, and Network Solutions Consultants to define customer challenges and IT/OT network infrastructure requirements. The SC co‑creates designs that support Belden’s Data Orchestration and Management Solutions (DOM), encompassing Layer 2 & 3 switching, routing, software, and cyber‑security products. After customer approval, the SC leads or supports Proof‑of‑Concept activities within Belden’s Customer Innovation Center Validation Labs (CIC) and ensures hand‑off to Commercial Operations and PMO teams.
Responsibilities
- Navigate customer challenges and build solutions that enable successful outcomes.
- Define and develop infrastructure requirements, originate designs, build BOM, SLD, and logical network hierarchy.
- Utilize standard tools (e.g., AIA MasterSpec Format) to articulate scope, design, installation, and testing requirements for infrastructure supporting DOM network designs.
- Lead and manage the development of solutions using a OneBelden approach, incorporating third‑party or ecosystem partner products as required.
- Define scope of services (Belden‑provided or third‑party) for customer applications in collaboration with the Technical Solutions & Services (TSS) team.
- Collaborate with TSS counterparts to translate customer requirements into compelling technical solutions with demonstrable financial value impact.
- Partner with the Customer Innovation Center Solution Support team to conduct POCs.
- Support transition from design acceptance/POC to execution phase with Commercial Operations and PMO functions.
- Provide technical leadership and influence to drive sales and solutions for customer applications.
- Maintain competence with all Belden products.
- Support technology campaigns (webinars, trade shows, etc.) to accelerate customer acceptance of Belden as a solution provider.
- Create technical content for marketing materials, collaterals, and solutions guides.
- Develop supporting documentation (application notes, how‑to videos, quick‑start guides, case studies).
- Maintain customer reporting and documentation using prescribed tools and systems.
- Provide market feedback to product management to drive product development.
- Partner with Sales to drive bookings growth by delivering outcome‑based solutions aligned with vertical market strategies; coordinate with Professional Services to identify billable attachments and services.
- Translate customer requirements into actionable technical solutions with demonstrable financial impact and billable services.
- Represent customer voice in Business Unit strategy and new product introduction processes.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- 8+ years of consultative experience in industrial or enterprise environments with proven expertise in OT/IT infrastructure design, implementation, or maintenance.
- Experience designing, deploying, commissioning, or maintaining copper or fiber networks, and supporting wireless or LAN/WAN networks.
- Experience with AIA MasterSpec, CAD, BlueBeam, BIM, Revit, and estimating tools (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical solutions into clear, actionable insights for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Solid knowledge of key technology and market trends, including competitors’ solutions.
- Strong technical knowledge of network communication systems and related applications.
- Collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Product Development).
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (≥50% travel).
- Relevant industry certifications (RCDD, CCTT, CDCP) preferred.
Benefits
Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $120,000–150,000 plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role. Belden may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
