Job summary

Siemens Electrification & Automation is seeking a Solution Architect – Engineering to bridge technology and business. You will design functional architectures, coordinate interfaces, and drive technical realization concepts across domains.

You will lead solution engineering activities, support pre-sales, travel to customer sites, and ensure successful implementation while communicating progress to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
  • Five or more years of experience in a similar role in engineering leadership, business development or a related technical leadership role.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
  • Software Application Knowledge: SieOps (Salesforce); Autodesk suite; SKM, Etap, or Easy Power; Microsoft Office, MS Teams.
  • Ability to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Familiarity with NEC, IBC, IFC codes and application to Low Voltage and Medium Voltage power systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% based on business need.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Site Visits: Travel to customer sites and evaluate existing conditions and equipment.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to solution delivery.

We are seeking a Solution Architect – Engineering to play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between technology and business. Your responsibilities encompass technical expertise plus coordination with department team members.

Our corporate headquarters are located in Wendell, NC, however 100% remote work may be considered for this role with required travel based on business needs. Located in the heart of the Research Triangle about 20 minutes east of Raleigh, Wendell offers top-rated schools, a mild climate, easy access to mountains and coast, and a cost of living that allows our compensation to go further. You’ll make a difference with:

Technical Expertise:
  • Solution Design: Integrate the technical requirements and specifications and coordinate them for the creation of a realization concept in the Solution Engineering team.
  • Drives and guides the creation of a functional architecture for a complete solution and of a technical realization concept over all its domain and technical aspects.
  • Evaluate different concepts with respect to technological and commercial aspects.
  • Specify and integrate standard products, components, and systems according to the required functionality of the solution and coordinate their interfaces and interaction.
  • Verify and validate the concepts and specifications versus the requirements and standards.
  • Share feedback on lessons learned to the Engineering Organization and R&D department.
  • Act internally as an integrating and coordinating technical function.
  • May draft the integration test concept (in partnership with the Requirements Engineer).
  • May take over dispositive functions or responsibility for costs, time, and quality (in cooperation or as substitute for the respective positions).
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure solutions meet quality standards, scalability, and performance requirements.
Emerging Technologies:
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and evaluate their impact on designs.
Technical Knowledge:
  • Industry knowledge and application of medium and low voltage networks, including medium-voltage switchgear, medium-voltage motor starters, low voltage motor controls, low-voltage switchgear, transformers, protection and automation, network communications, and application of power equipment centers. High-voltage system knowledge is a plus.
Customer Engagement:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Field engineering experience.
  • Experience with turnkey projects in medium voltage, low voltage, process automation, drives, and inverter applications.
  • Familiarity with Siemens medium and low voltage switchgear.
  • Current valid P.E. license.
