A leading engineering firm in Texas is seeking a Solution Architect to design IT solutions for various projects. You’ll collaborate with teams to ensure solutions are secure and compliant. Ideal candidates will have over 10 years of experience in IT solutions and a strong background in architecture. EU citizenship is a requirement due to the nature of projects. Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in IT solutions as an engineer or architect.
• 5+ years IT Architecture experience is preferred.
• Solid experience in technical tooling and solutions.
• Familiarity with architecture tools is a plus.
• Good command of English and understanding of Dutch.
• Experience dealing with compliance and risk topics is a plus.
• Good command of English and ability to speak and understand Dutch.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are required; non-EU nationals are not eligible due to military nature of projects.

The role

As a Solution Architect within Damen Naval’s IT Staff Department, you will be responsible for designing IT solutions for various business and IT projects. You will develop standard solutions, create designs, guide IT projects, and collaborate with our IT engineers to build and improve solutions. Working in a complex environment focused on building naval ships with approximately 1200 employees, managing cyber security threats, and incorporating security by design are critical aspects of your role. You will work on a variety of IT projects and programs that match your skills and experience, with opportunities to broaden your knowledge and tackle new challenges. You will join an architecture team comprising 10 specialists in both enterprise and solution architecture. We use the TOGAF framework and model our environment with the Archimate modelling language. Our architecture processes, principles, and vision are well-established, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to their improvement based on your expertise.

Key accountabilities

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• You consult on and design new and current IT solutions.
• You create standard reusable building blocks and low-level designs.
• You guide project teams in making the right technological decisions.
• Cooperate with the Cyber Security team and security architects to make sure our technical solutions are secure and compliant.
• Cooperate with the Enterprise architects to make sure our solutions are in line with the high-level design, (IT) strategy and architecture vision.

Skills & experience

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• 10+ years’ experience working on IT solutions as either an engineer or architect.
• 5+ years’ experience working on IT Architecture is preferred.
• Solid experience in translating of requirements into (technical) tooling and solutions.
• Familiarity with architecture tools and experience in modelling and standardizing architecture is a plus.
• Excellent stakeholder management, consultancy and influencing skills.
• Experienced dealing with compliance and risk topics are considered a plus.
• Good command of the English language and the ability to speak and understand Dutch.

• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
