Job summary

Lincoln County Public Works is seeking a Sanitation Truck Driver to operate a solid waste truck, collect containers, and transport waste to the landfill. Responsibilities include equipment inspection, minor maintenance, fueling, and assisting with yard debris collection and recyclables.

The role requires reading/writing skills, basic math, and a valid Class B CDL with NC licensing. Outdoor work in all weather is expected, with after-hours emergencies possible.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
• Experience with operating solid waste collection equipment or similar machinery.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a Class B CDL.

Responsibilities

• Operate a solid waste truck to collect and transport sanitation containers to the landfill.
• Perform safety inspections and minor maintenance; report needs to supervisor.
• Fuel trucks and operate brush truck/knuckle boom for yard debris collection.
• Assist in maintenance of convenience sites as needed and collect recyclables.
• Respond to after-hour emergencies as required.
