Job summary

Butler America Aerospace, LLC is seeking an experienced Solder Assembler in Oldsmar, FL to join our precision electronics manufacturing team. The role requires expertise in SMT and through-hole soldering, with hands-on use of rework equipment and X-ray inspection.

You will perform high-mix, low-volume PCB assembly, repair bottom-terminated parts (QFNs, BGAs, LGAs), and ensure quality through AOI/X-ray checks, following drawings and BOM.

Qualifications

• Extensive SMT and through-hole soldering experience.
• Experience with bottom-terminated parts (QFNs, BGAs, LGAs).
• Proficient with rework equipment and X-ray inspection.
• Ability to interpret drawings and BOM.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-mix, low-volume assembly of SMT and through-hole components on PCBs.
• Remove, replace, and repair bottom-terminated components using hot-air pencils, hot plates, and other rework tools.
• Conduct precise reflow, pre-heat, and cooling cycles to meet component-specific thermal profiles.
• Operate and maintain X-ray inspection equipment to evaluate solder joints on hidden pads and verify rework quality.
• Interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and BOM to ensure correct component placement and orientation.
• Perform in-process quality checks (visual, AOI, X-ray) and document results per quality system requirements.
• Troubleshoot solder-related defects and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain ESD-controlled environments; follow all safety and compliance procedures.
• Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives and tooling upgrades.
• Operator must be willing to work under a microscope for long periods.

Job Description

• We are seeking a highly experienced Solder Assembler to join our precision electronics manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be an expert in both surface?mount technology (SMT) and through?hole soldering, with a proven track record of removing, repairing, and replacing a wide variety of components-including bottom?terminated parts such as QFNs, BGAs, and LGAs. The role requires hands?on use of advanced rework equipment and the ability to verify workmanship using X?ray inspection techniques.
• Perform high?mix, low?volume assembly of SMT and through?hole components on complex printed circuit boards (PCBs).
• Execute removal, replacement, and repair of bottom?terminated components (QFNs, BGAs, LGAs) using hot?air pencils, hot plates, and other rework tools.
• Conduct precise reflow, pre?heat, and cooling cycles to meet component?specific thermal profiles.
