Job summary

Leeward Renewable Energy is hiring a Solar Technician, Level 1 (S1) for routine maintenance of solar panels, inverters, racking and tracking systems. The role includes CMMS record-keeping, safety compliance with PPE and lockout/tagout, and contributing to a growing renewable energy portfolio.

On-the-job training is provided to advance to higher technician levels within the solar plant operations career path. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on solar panels, inverters, racks, and tracking systems.
  • Record maintenance activities in CMMS, including work orders.
  • Follow safety protocols, PPE usage, lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Assist in preparing reports on maintenance activities and issues found.
  • Engage in on-the-job training to develop technical skills for advancement.
  • Assist in handling and organizing tools and materials for maintenance.
  • Work with Site Lead and higher-level technicians to complete tasks safely.
  • Perform physical tasks up to 50 lbs and work in varied weather conditions.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Solar Technician, Level 1 (S1) Routine Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks on solar panels, inverters, racking, and tracking systems under supervision. Ensure all work is conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Work Order Management: Accurately record all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work order creation, updates, and closure.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices to minimize risks.
  • Reporting: Assist in preparing reports on maintenance activities, including documenting issues encountered, solutions implemented, and recommendations for future work.
  • Learning & Development: Engage in on-the-job training to develop technical skills and knowledge in solar plant operations. Participate in company-provided training programs to advance to higher levels within the solar technician career path.
  • Equipment Handling: Assist in handling and organizing tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance tasks. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and stored.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with higher-level technicians and the Site Lead to complete tasks efficiently and effectively. Follow instructions and seek guidance when needed to ensure safe and accurate execution of work.
  • Physical Work: Perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying items up to 50 lbs. Work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
