Job summary

Invenergy’s Beekman Energy Center in Bastrop, LA, is seeking a Solar Technician responsible for operating and maintaining the site. The role requires performing mechanical and electrical maintenance, vegetation management, and troubleshooting complex issues across solar, substation, and related equipment.

The position follows a 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, Monday–Friday schedule with potential overtime and night work. Travel up to 30% and outdoor work are expected; climbing ladders and lifting up to 100 lbs

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year technical experience (electrical, etc.) and/or technical education.
• Willing to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Willing to support other project sites in the region.
• Willing to work nights during maintenance activities.
• Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather.
• Ability to climb and work safely from a portable step ladder.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic problems, including inverter faults and tracker faults.
• Understand the electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic functions of all components of the solar site and equipment.
• Conduct site maintenance daily with safety equipment to inspect and repair equipment.

About the Site

The Beekman Energy Center is a 185 MW-AC solar powered generation facility that is located at 4908 White Arkansas Road, Bastrop, LA 71220, utilizing SunGrow inverters, NXT Horizon trackers, and Jinko Modules, with attached substation.

As a Solar Technician, you will be responsible for assisting in operating and maintaining the energy site.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on all site solar, substation, and associated equipment.
• Perform vegetation management, including operating large equipment to maintain the site per the vegetation management plan.
• Troubleshoot complicated electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic problems, including inverter faults, tracker faults, network communications, ground faults, collection issues, substation issues, and general site performance issues.
• Understand the electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic functions of all components of the solar site and associated equipment.
• Conduct site maintenance daily, wearing all required safety equipment, to inspect, maintain, and repair equipment.
• Work a schedule of 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, Monday-Friday (40 hours), and be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime and potential night work. The work schedule may vary during peak maintenance periods.
• Maintain company tooling, facilities, and equipment, and a clean, safe work environment.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year technical experience (electrical, etc.) and/or technical education.
• Willing to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Willing to support other project sites in the region.
• Willing to work nights during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.

• Ability to understand directions, follow procedures, and complete tasks with minimal oversight.

• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience

• Experience with PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium-voltage systems, and network communications and monitoring.
• Experience in an industrial environment dealing with machine repair and maintenance (manufacturing, automotive, food processing, automation, facilities) as a maintenance technician, electrician, electronics technician, field engineer, service technician, or similar role.
• Experience with the operation of various SCADA systems.
• Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as thermographic electrical inspection, I-V curve tracing, meggers, and ground fault detection.
• Strong analytical and diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard practices.
• Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams and schematics.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.

Base Pay

$29.49 - $49.97 USD Hourly
Bonus: 0% - 10%
