Job summary

Kokosing is seeking a Quality Control professional to oversee solar installations on a range of projects. The role requires significant travel between Ohio and Michigan to support multiple sites.

You will ensure the project plans are followed, maintain QC systems, and prepare documentation. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management, and 3+ years in QC for electrical/solar work are needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent.
• 3+ years in quality control in electrical, solar installation, or solar/electrical commissioning.
• Experience reading blueprints and technical drawings.
• Willingness to travel between Ohio and Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Control the quality specified in project plans and specifications.
• Maintain an effective project quality control system.
• Prepare and submit accurate documentation of all quality control activities.
• Write and submit quality inspection and testing plans.
• Assist with procedures and protocols that meet industry standards; support project teams.
• Communicate with Project Manager and team to ensure quality standards are met.
• Ensure subcontractors and vendors provide required quality and documentation.
• Perform onsite and offsite quality inspections of all work elements.
• Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or modifications.
• Inspect sites to monitor progress and conformance to specs and safety.
• Provide periodic quality reports with detail on project health.
• Suggest opportunities for improvement on projects and companywide.

Position Summary

Perform quality control duties overseeing construction and maintenance of Solar installations on a wide variety of projects. This role does require significant travel between Ohio and Michigan, supporting multiple project sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Control the quality specified in the project plans and specifications.
• Maintain an effective project quality control system.
• Prepare and submit accurate documentation of all quality control activities.
• Write and submit quality inspection and testing plans.
• Assist with maintaining procedures and protocol that meet industry standards Assist the project team with preparation and submittal of work plans.
• Communicate with the Project Manager, Project Superintendent(s), and other project team members regarding the execution of the work including stopping work if required to ensure that the required quality standards are met.
• Ensure that subcontractors and vendors provide the required quality of work including all required documentation.
• Perform or participate in onsite and offsite quality inspections of all self-perform work, subcontracted work elements, and select fabricators/vendors.
• Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and continuous improvement to industrial and managerial personnel.
• Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety.
• Provide periodic quality reports to management with sufficient detail to describe the overall quality health of the project.
• Recommend Opportunities for Improvement on a Project and Company wide basis.

Education and Experience

• Possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience.
• 3+ years’ experience in a quality control role, electrical, solar installation, or solar/electrical commissioning.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and other technical drawings and documents.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with people of all knowledge levels.
• Work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Relationships

• Reports to the Quality Manager and closely interacts with all levels of team members within the organization.
• Develops relationships that foster Continuous Improvement by listening, learning and leading.

Working Conditions

• 25% of duties are performed on computer in a temperature-controlled field office with fluorescent-lighted environment, 75% of duties are performed in the field.
• Others impose 100% of deadlines.
• Some lifting between 0-50lbs is required.
