Position Overview

As an Installations Technician at Terra Energy, you will be responsible for the hands-on installation and setup of solar energy systems, electrical components, and related infrastructure. You will work directly with customers and the installation team to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality installations. Your work will directly contribute to Terra Energy’s mission of providing clean, renewable energy while offering exceptional service and satisfaction to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
Solar System Installations
  1. Install Solar Panels and Systems
    • Install solar panels, inverters, wiring, and electrical components according to Terra Energy’s established guidelines and industry standards.
    • Ensure the proper setup, calibration, and testing of solar systems to guarantee optimal energy production and safety.
    • Perform installations for both residential and commercial projects, following detailed blueprints and site specifications.
  2. Site Assessment and Preparation
    • Conduct site assessments to determine the best location for solar panels and system components based on customer needs and building specifications.
    • Prepare sites for installation, including working with roofing, electrical, and structural components.
    • Collaborate with the project manager and engineering teams to ensure site readiness and efficient workflows.
Electrical System Integration
  1. Electrical Wiring and Connections
    • Perform electrical wiring for solar systems, ensuring all connections are secure and meet safety and electrical standards.
    • Install AC and DC electrical components including inverters, disconnects, and grounding systems.
    • Perform testing of electrical systems to confirm proper operation and safety.
  2. Troubleshooting and Maintenance
    • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and system issues as needed, ensuring system performance is optimized.
    • Identify and address electrical system malfunctions, making repairs or adjustments as required to meet performance standards.
    • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of solar systems to ensure long-term functionality and safety.
Customer Interaction
  1. Provide Excellent Customer Service
    • Communicate with customers in a friendly, professional manner, addressing any concerns or questions they may have before, during, and after installation.
    • Educate customers on the operation and maintenance of their solar systems, providing them with the necessary knowledge to use and care for their installations.
    • Ensure a clean and safe work environment during and after installation, leaving the site in excellent condition for customers.
  2. Collaborate with Installation Team
    • Work alongside other technicians and team members to coordinate installation efforts, ensuring that the project is completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
    • Support team members by sharing technical knowledge and assisting with problem-solving during installations.
Safety & Compliance
  1. Follow Safety Protocols
    • Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations while performing installations, including using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring worksite safety.
    • Follow Terra Energy’s safety protocols for working with electrical systems, solar equipment, and in various weather conditions.
    • Ensure that all installations comply with local building codes, electrical codes, and safety standards.
  2. Regulatory Compliance
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of local, state, and federal regulations regarding solar installations and electrical systems.
    • Ensure all installations meet code requirements and are completed in compliance with industry best practices.
Documentation and Reporting
  1. Complete Installation Reports
    • Document the details of each installation, including system configuration, equipment used, and any issues encountered during the installation process.
    • Maintain accurate records of all electrical work, inspections, and repairs performed.
    • Submit reports and photos as required by management or the project team.
  2. Track and Report Progress
    • Communicate daily or weekly progress to the project manager or team lead, including updates on site readiness, installation status, and any potential delays.
    • Help track inventory of installation materials and report any shortages or issues with supplies.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or degree in electrical systems, renewable energy, or related field is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience in electrical installation, solar systems, or a related field.
    • Hands-on experience working with solar panel systems, inverters, electrical wiring, and other components of solar installations.
    • Previous experience in residential or commercial solar installation is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in electrical wiring and system integration.
    • Solid understanding of solar energy systems and installation best practices.
    • Familiarity with local building codes, electrical codes, and safety regulations.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Good communication skills and customer service orientation.
    • Ability to work well within a team and independently in the field.
