Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Solar Operator to operate equipment such as forklift, telehandler, and Bobcat/skid-steer on solar projects. The role emphasizes strict adherence to Mortenson safety policies and procedures while supporting efficient daily work.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to read safety rules and load charts. Expect collaborative teamwork, routine maintenance, and adherence to project plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of related experience.
• Current driver’s license with proper classification and endorsements as required by law.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and load charts.
• Ability to operate forklifts/telehandlers and Bobcat/ skid-steers; basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment (Forklift/Telehandler, Bobcat/Skid-steer) per project requirements.
• Follow prescribed safety regulations and Mortenson safety policies.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area; perform routine maintenance (lubricating, fueling, cleaning).
• Monitor equipment operation to detect malfunctions; follow pre-task plans.
• Work with diverse teams and stakeholders; perform other duties as assigned.

Solar Operator

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking an Operator that will be responsible for operating equipment as directed and specified while adhering to all rules and regulations as mandated by Mortenson safety policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate the following equipment based on the requirements of the project:
  • Forklift/Telehandler
  • Bobcat/Skid-steer
• B. Follow prescribed safety regulations
• C. Ensure that all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area
• D. Perform routine maintenance to include lubricating, fueling and cleaning
• E. Observe equipment operation to detect machine malfunction
• F. Follow work plans and pre-task cards
• G. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• H. All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum one (1) year of related experience
• Current driver's license of proper classification and necessary endorsements as required by law
• Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, and detail-oriented; ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and load charts
• Ability to operate equipment by moving levers, shifting gears, depressing pedals, and maneuvering steering wheels; knowledge of equipment and their uses; basic mathematical skills
• Ability to work independently with active listening and effective communication skills, open to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
