Job summary

Onward Energy in Bakersfield, CA, is seeking a Solar Operations & Maintenance Supervisor to lead daily site execution for PV plants. You will ensure safe operations, manage technicians, and drive maintenance efficiency to meet performance targets.

The role requires 5+ years in operations/maintenance in power generation, solar experience, and strong leadership. Expect a supervisory track, safety focus, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Power Generation, or related field preferred.
Five (5) years of experience in operations/maintenance in power generation or related fields, with solar experience.
Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and direct safe operation and maintenance activities.
Understanding of power plant operations, EH&S, budgeting support, personnel management, and performance management.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to support cross-functional teams.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office and enterprise work management systems.
Technical knowledge of PV inverters, tracking systems, DC systems, MV equipment, communication systems, and plant controls preferred.
Ability to adapt to organizational changes; self-starter with decisiveness and escalation when needed.
Effective time management, organization, multitasking, and attention to detail.
Able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
Valid U.S. driver license with acceptable MVR.

Responsibilities

Ensure safety and health performance through strict policy adherence.
Lead daily site operations and maintenance activities.
Conduct JHA, Pre-Job Briefs, LOTO, and other safety processes.
Supervise technicians to meet safety, quality, and company standards.
Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to site personnel.
Support training, qualifications, and performance feedback.
Assist with recruiting and onboarding of site personnel.
Ensure environmental, regulatory, and company compliance at facilities.
Coordinate preventive, corrective, predictive maintenance, and outages.
Plan and schedule maintenance activities and maintain CMMS records.
Monitor plant performance and investigate issues for corrective actions.
Lead troubleshooting on inverters, trackers, DC/MV systems, and related equipment.
Coordinate with ROC and other teams to resolve issues and improve performance.
Prepare input for monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
Maintain accuracy of maintenance records and documentation.
