Job summary

Pearce is seeking a Solar Field Service Technician I to support utility-scale solar projects across North America. The role focuses on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of ground-mount PV systems, inverters, and associated power plant equipment, ensuring safe and on-schedule work.

This 100% travel position requires hands-on field work, adherence to OSHA/NFPA 70E safety standards, and the ability to diagnose issues on-site.

Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of utility-scale solar experience.
• Experience on megawatt-scale PV systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Experience with solar O&M/maintenance.
• OSHA/NFPA 70E safety knowledge.
• Experience with testing equipment (multimeters, megger, amp clamps).
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair utility-scale solar systems, including inverters and string circuits.
• Perform testing (LOTO, IV tracing, megger testing, IR scans).
• Perform operation and maintenance on utility-scale solar plants.
• Inspect completed work for quality and safety.
• Enforce safety requirements on-site (OSHA, NFPA 70E).
• Diagnose issues and resolve problems in the field.
• Complete work orders and documentation.
• Operate and maintain company vehicle and tools.

Your Impact

As a Solar Field Service Technician I (Utility-Scale / PV Repair), you’ll work on large, utility-scale solar farms—not residential or rooftop systems. You’ll handle troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of ground-mount solar systems, central/string inverters, and power plant equipment. You’re responsible for making sure work is done safely, correctly, and on schedule.

This is a 100% travel position.

Core Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair utility-scale solar systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, and string circuits
• Perform testing: LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, IR scans
• Perform operations and maintenance (O&M) on utility-scale solar plants
• Inspect completed work and ensure it meets quality and safety standards
• Enforce safety requirements (OSHA, NFPA 70E) on-site
• Diagnose system issues and resolve them in the field
• Complete work orders, service logs, and required documentation
• Operate and maintain company vehicle and tools

Core Experience (Utility-Scale Required)

• 1-2+ years of utility-scale solar experience (solar farms / ground-mount systems)
• Experience working on megawatt-scale PV systems (NOT residential rooftop solar)
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills (inverters, DC systems, power electronics)
• Experience with solar O&M / maintenance work
• Working knowledge of OSHA / NFPA 70E safety standards
• Experience using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and testing equipment
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)

Physical / Work Environment

• Lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
• 100% travel role (frequent travel to solar farm sites)
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, dust)
• Must follow all OSHA and company safety requirements

Compensation:

$20.00-$25.00 hourly/DOE
