Responsibilities

  1. Lead and coordinate engineering activities for the technical support, design, and development of commercial solar and energy storage systems.
  2. Hire, supervise, support, and develop the engineering team.
  3. Assist the engineering project management team as needed, learning all aspects of the team’s responsibilities.
  4. Maintain strong relationships with clients.
  5. Assess current SOPs and workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  6. Ensure projects are completed efficiently, correctly, on schedule, and within budget.
  7. Negotiate contracts with outside vendors.
  8. Maintain relationships and manage expectations with engineering consultants and equipment vendors.
  9. Review engineering work for accuracy and ensure compliance with engineering principles.
  10. Review RFPs and contract documents.
  11. Act as liaison with Project Management on matters relating to engineering progress, quality, and scope issues on projects as well as interface with customers on technical questions/concerns.
  12. Research latest technologies and best practices.

Education & Experience

  1. Degree in engineering, electrical preferred.
  2. 7+ years of engineering experience.
  3. 2+ years of PV design engineering experience.
  4. 2+ years of engineering management experience.
  5. Battery/Storage experience preferred.
  6. Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  9. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  10. Project management and time management skills.
  11. Expertise in building strong relationships.
  12. Proficiency in understanding solar system design (Helioscope, AutoCAD, PVsyst).
  13. NABCEP Design Specialist Certification preferred.
  14. Knowledge of Electric (NEC) and Fire codes.
  15. Experience preparing electrical engineering design packages.
