Big Sun Solar in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Solar Designer to create precise solar PV system designs for commercial projects. You will translate customer energy goals and site conditions into code-compliant designs that align with NEC and AHJ requirements, coordinating closely with sales, engineering, and field teams.

The role emphasizes modeling, permit-ready packages, and collaboration across departments, with travel across Texas as needed. Office-based with field site visits.

Formación

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of experience in solar PV system design for commercial projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD and solar design software (Helioscope, PVsyst or similar).
• Knowledge of NEC Article 690, utility interconnection standards, and AHJ permitting processes.

Responsabilidades

• Develop accurate solar PV system designs, single-line diagrams, and site layouts using industry-standard software.
• Conduct shading analysis and energy production modeling for proposed projects.
• Prepare permit-ready design packages for AHJs and utilities.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs are feasible and buildable.
• Review drawings and ensure NEC, IBC, and local code compliance.
• Manage design revisions based on feedback and site conditions.
• Maintain organized design files and project documentation.
• Coordinate with third-party engineers for stamped drawings as needed.
• Support field teams with design clarifications during installation.
