Job summary

DCC Energy GB is seeking a Design Technician to support Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. You will contribute to concept through to as-built documentation, collaborating with engineers and project teams.

Join a growing Technical & Engineering group within EPS, with a pathway toward a Design Engineer career and opportunities in renewable energy design and delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience producing technical drawings, designs or engineering documentation.
• Experience using CAD or technical design software.
• Strong attention to detail and document control skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Producing technical drawings, layouts and design documentation for Solar PV and BESS projects.
• Supporting the development of Solar PV and BESS designs through modelling, CAD and technical design software.
• Creating and maintaining design schedules, technical documentation, drawing registers and as-built information.
• Assisting Design Engineers with engineering calculations, design reviews and technical coordination activities.
• Working closely with Applications, Engineering and Project Delivery teams to ensure accurate and coordinated project design information.
• Supporting projects throughout design, construction, commissioning and handover phases.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of design processes, standards and technical documentation.
• Developing technical expertise towards a Design Engineer career pathway.

As a Design Technician - Solar & BESS, you'll join our growing Technical & Engineering team within the Energy Products & Solutions (EPS) division. Working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, you'll provide critical design and technical production support across a portfolio of commercial and industrial Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical drawing and design capabilities who is looking to build a long-term career within the renewable energy sector. You'll support projects from concept through detailed design, construction and final as-built documentation while developing your technical expertise and progressing towards a Design Engineer career pathway.

What you'll be doing

• Producing technical drawings, layouts and design documentation for commercial and industrial Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.


• Supporting the development of Solar PV and BESS designs through modelling, CAD and technical design software.


• Creating and maintaining design schedules, technical documentation, drawing registers and as-built information.


• Assisting Design Engineers with engineering calculations, design reviews and technical coordination activities.

What we'll need from you

• Good technical aptitude and ability to interpret engineering information.


• Experience using CAD or technical design software.


• Strong attention to detail and document control skills.


• Ability to work accurately with technical drawings, schedules and project information.


• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.


• Good verbal and written communication skills.


• A proactive approach to learning and developing technical expertise.
