Job summary

Zeo Energy in Virginia Beach, VA is hiring experienced and reliable Crew Leads to support residential solar installations in Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach. You will lead crews, ensure high-quality workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction while meeting project deadlines.

Responsibilities include installing roof-mounted solar arrays, wiring and commissioning according to electrical plans, documenting progress, and coordinating with inspectors and homeowners.

Qualifications

• Safety-conscious with fall protection awareness.
• Ability to climb ladders and lift 50+ lbs.
• Residential solar installation experience preferred or can be taught.
• Valid driver's license required for leadership positions.

Responsibilities

• Complete residential solar installations according to project specs, codes, and Va. requirements.
• Perform roof-mounted installs, including racking and module placement.
• Bend and install EMT conduit on roof and on house exterior/interior.
• Install, wire, tie-in, and commission according to electrical plans.
• Submit photos and documentation to online portal.
• Maintain safe, orderly job sites per OSHA and company protocols.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners, inspectors, and support staff.

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced and reliable Crew Leads to support residential solar in and around Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach. You will be responsible for providing high-quality workmanship, maintaining safety standards, leading and training installers, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. These roles have competitive pay with piece-rate (per-watt) compensation, plus quality and volume bonuses that reward high-performing installers. This role is ideal for hands on leaders who take pride in speed, accuracy, and quality. Residential solar experience is required.

Job Description :

• Complete residential solar installations according to project specifications, local building codes, and state of Virginia requirements.
• Perform roof-mounted solar array installations, including racking installation and module placement.
• Bend and install EMT conduit on the roof and on the exterior and interior of homes.
• Install, wire, tie-in, and commission according to the electrical plans including completing tap boxes (for crew electricians).
• Submit installation photos and documentation to online portal.
• Maintain an orderly and safe job site that complies with OSHA and company safety protocols.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners, inspectors, and support staff.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Comfortable working on steep roofs while utilizing proper safety measures to ensure safety of other members of crew also working on the roof.
• Ability to climb ladders, lift 50+ lbs, and work safely in various weather conditions.
• Experience in residential solar installations preferred, but can be taught on the job with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Valid driver's license required for leadership positions.

Compensation and Earnings Potential

• Get paid for performance with per-watt (piece-rate) pay. Installers earn a set dollar amount for every watt installed, meaning the more you install, the more you earn.
• Efficiency and quality are rewarded. Experienced, motivated installers who work efficiently and deliver high-quality installs can significantly increase their biweekly earnings.
• Quality bonuses available. Earn additional bonuses for clean installs, passing inspections the first time, and meeting workmanship standards.
• Volume bonuses available. Install more systems and higher total wattage to unlock additional incentive pay.
• Your skills directly impact your paycheck. This role is ideal for installers who take pride in speed, accuracy, and craftsmanship.
• Experienced Crew Leads average $100,000 annually.
