Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Solar Cell Reliability Engineer to own the reliability lab for HJT cells, overseeing tests from wafer to on-orbit performance and driving improvements for Starlink and Starship. You will define test matrices and collaborate with process teams to link parameters to reliability outcomes.

The role requires strong data analysis, failure analysis, and the ability to present findings at design reviews. On-site in Bastrop, TX with potential travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is required.
• Master’s or Ph.D. preferred in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field.
• Experience with PV devices, solar cell reliability, and reliability testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate the solar cell reliability lab with equipment strategy and data integrity.
• Define and execute reliability test matrices for HJT solar cells.
• Build the reliability narrative for flight programs, including FMEA and life predictions.
• Collaborate with process & equipment engineering to link parameters to reliability outcomes.
• Develop test methods, SOPs, fixtures, and automation for high-throughput reliability characterization.
• Lead root-cause analysis using analytical tools and close loop with manufacturing and design.
• Present technical content for design reviews and reliability packages.
