Job summary

SpaceX is building Starlink and insourcing solar cell manufacturing. As a Materials Engineer for solar cell characterization, you will own offline metrology and materials characterization of insourced solar cells—building the measurement capability, analysis methods, and physical understanding needed to raise cell performance and yield.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a materials science/engineering discipline or related field.
• 1+ years of professional experience in materials characterization, semiconductor/pV metrology, or related lab/manufacturing role.

Responsibilities

• Own offline metrology and characterization strategy for insourced solar cells across interfaces and defects.
• Develop and maintain a suite of electrical, optical, and materials characterization techniques to quantify performance, reliability and yield.
• Lead root-cause analysis for performance excursions and drive first-principles corrective actions.
• Define measurement requirements, sampling plans, gauge R&R, calibration, and acceptance criteria with cross-functional teams.
• Document methods, SOPs, FA reports, and communicate status and risks clearly to leadership.
