A renewable energy provider is seeking a Solar Technician I in Mojave, CA. Candidates will be responsible for O&M activities on solar PV plants and associated systems. Job Overview

Solar Technician I – AES CE, Salt Lake City. The role is based at Bellefield Solar project, Mojave, CA. Candidates must reside in the Lancaster/Mojave/Tehachapi area and be able to commute daily to the site using their own transportation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Assigned O&M activities on solar PV, BESS sites and substations associated with utility‑scale Solar/BESS energy plants in Southern California, including Kern, Antelope Valley (Los Angeles County) and Victor Valley (San Bernardino).
• Corrective, preventive and emergency maintenance and operations for equipment such as inverters (SMA, Advanced Energy, Power Electronics, Eaton, TMEIC, SunGrow, Solectria), trackers (NEXTracker, Voyager, ATI), combiner boxes, PV modules, DC collection equipment (Fluence, Samsung, CATL), and AC collection and distribution equipment.
• Routine maintenance work: electrical troubleshooting and repair, instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting, basic inverter troubleshooting as assigned.
• Preparation and implementation of switching and clearance orders.
• Operation of electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
• Participation in training as required.
• Technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power plant.
• Assistance with site vegetation management plans, including operating tractors, riding mowers and other equipment.
• Documentation of plant orders, procedures, operating instructions and other assigned documents.
• Ensuring compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
• Work independently or in crews depending on skills and experience.

Education / Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• (Preferred) Technical degree or solar certification.
• Experience in solar system installation or asset management.
• Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single‑craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, solid‑state theory application, and/or basic knowledge of equipment operation and control devices installed in power facilities.

Working Conditions

• Outdoor work in solar plant environment, including high/low ambient temperatures and humidity, and possible work at heights.
• Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and accessing plant equipment for inspections.
• Use of personal protective equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, footwear, ear plugs, etc.).
• May require working around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.
• Occasional lifting as necessary to perform duties.
• May work overtime and non‑standard hours as required.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Salary & Benefits

The expected salary at commencement of employment is between $28.50 and $34.21 per hour, with total compensation including an annual bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility and paid time off (vacation, sick leave, parental leave). Salary may vary based on location, experience, skills and other factors. This is an at‑will position and the company reserves the right to modify base salary and other compensation at any time.
