Position Scope and Impact

Moss’ Solar Assistant Project Managers assist the Project Manager in the administrative and technical management of Solar projects, supervising activities related to contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and scheduling.

Responsibilities
  • Review design documents, identify key subcontractors, investigate site, analyze labor markets, identify long‑lead items, develop bid packages, develop schedules, develop site utilization plan, and conduct pre‑bid conferences.
  • Manage project financial responsibilities: develop and maintain Project Financial Reports (PFR) and Labor Cost Reports (LCR), set up Project Schedule of Values, approve miscellaneous job expenditures, prepare monthly Owner requisitions, manage change order process, administer owner purchase program, manage project assets, and enforce bonding and insurance policies.
  • Develop scopes of work; set up filing system and JMIS/Iris System; develop purchasing schedule; obtain insurance and bonds; develop Quality Control program.
  • Comply with contract requirements; coordinate with corporate scheduling; prepare and distribute detailed Project Schedules; prepare resource‑loaded schedules; develop Look‑Ahead Schedule.
  • Mentor staff, provide direction, disseminate company policy, and promote employee morale.
  • Administer document control, RFI process, critical items list, monthly reports and correspondence.
  • Conduct trade pre‑construction meetings; coordinate subcontractors and vendors; coordinate permit inspections; maintain subcontractor relationships; manage Safety and Shop Drawing processes.
  • Interact regularly with Owner and address client needs.
  • Manage project closeout and post‑construction services: obtain Certificate of Occupancy and other approvals, submit As‑Built drawings, submit Operation Manuals, complete Punch List, coordinate Owner move‑in and start‑up, and deliver warranties.
  • Participate in company‑sponsored events, Task Team Committees, and industry‑related organizations.
  • Participate in training programs, continuing education, seminars and conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager in the Solar Construction industry with a general contractor.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with construction project management applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface directly with owners’ representatives, the A/E team, building departments, and other team members.
  • ERP experience and experience working with CMIC is a plus.
  • Intermediate finance skills are required.
