Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Software Testing Principal to lead testing activities for mission-critical healthcare applications operating in a MUMPS/InterSystems Caché environment. This is a 100% remote role.

You will develop test plans, validate releases, manage defects, and mentor junior testers while ensuring regulatory compliance and data integrity across legacy and modernized interfaces.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software testing, QA, or system validation in regulated environments.
• Experience supporting healthcare/government environments.
• Experience testing enterprise applications in healthcare operations.
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain Public Trust.
• ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA, or similar testing certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test procedures for healthcare apps on MUMPS/InterSystems Caché.
• Validate enhancements, maintenance releases, defects, and system upgrades.
• Support functional, integration, regression, UAT, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Verify data integrity across legacy healthcare apps and interfaces.
• Test HL7, FHIR, EDI interoperability transactions.
• Participate in Beta/IOC testing and coordinate issue resolution.
• Analyze and troubleshoot defects and production incidents.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and end users to validate requirements.
• Develop test data and environments for healthcare workflows.
• Execute manual and automated testing where applicable.
• Track defects, metrics, risks, and status reports.
• Validate integrations with VistA, FileMan, and external systems.
• Support root-cause analysis and verification of fixes.
• Review requirements to ensure testability and coverage.

This role will support modernization efforts, system enhancements, healthcare interoperability initiatives, and production support activities associated with legacy healthcare systems. This is a 100% Remote role.

Job Description:

• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test procedures for healthcare applications operating in MUMPS/InterSystems Caché environments.
• Validate software enhancements, maintenance releases, defect corrections, and system upgrades.
• Support functional, integration, regression, user acceptance, system, and end-to-end testing activities.
• Verify data integrity across legacy healthcare applications, databases, interfaces, and external systems.
• Test healthcare interoperability transactions utilizing HL7, FHIR, EDI, and related industry standards.
• Participate in Beta/IOC testing with healthcare facilities and end users, documenting results and coordinating issue resolution.
• Analyze and troubleshoot software defects, integration failures, and production incidents.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, and end users to validate requirements and test objectives.
• Develop test data and test environments supporting healthcare workflows and business processes.
• Execute manual and automated testing activities where applicable.
• Track, document, and communicate testing metrics, defects, risks, and status reports.
• Validate integrations involving VistA, FileMan, healthcare messaging platforms, and external partner systems.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or related field or 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
• 10+ years of software testing, quality assurance, or system validation experience.
• Experience supporting healthcare, government, or other highly regulated environments.
• Experience testing enterprise applications supporting clinical, benefits, or healthcare operations.
• Experience supporting legacy applications and long-lived mission-critical systems.
• Must be a US Citizen and able to maintain a Public Trust

Preferred:

• Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) systems.
• Experience supporting VistA and FileMan applications.
• ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA, or similar testing certification.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

• Experience creating testing metrics, dashboards, and status reports.
• Strong documentation skills.

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
