Job summary

Hamilton Company is seeking a software test engineer to join the R&D team, focusing on quality across robotic platforms and software, including tools, drivers, REST APIs, UIs, and IDEs.

You will design test plans, implement tests, and advocate for quality improvements while collaborating with software, firmware, hardware, and customer teams. A hands-on automation-first approach will be essential.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree from regionally accredited university in computer science, software engineering or related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience as a software tester and/or programmer.
  • Experience testing robotic platforms is a plus.
  • Laboratory experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

This is a hands‑on technical position where you will be interacting with our robotic platforms to ensure we continue to deliver high quality solutions for customers. You will work closely with developers, testers, marketing, and customers. You will have the opportunity to develop creative quality solutions to meet the needs of the product and team. As a software test engineer at Hamilton, you will be expected to be the advocate for software quality. You’ll bring quality concerns to the team and help assess the impact of defects. You will push for higher quality by developing test plans, implementing tests, and document testing results. Embracing an automation‑first mentality, you’ll build sustainable testing solutions for your projects.The software R&D team has a broad portfolio of products, including: internal tools, device drivers, REST APIs, web‑based UIs, and full IDEs. As business needs arise, you will be working on one or more of these projects.

Qualifications

  • Strong advocate for quality
  • Technical programming expertise (OOP, Unit testing)
  • Experience designing effective quality strategies
  • Ability to recognize and prioritize work that impacts quality the most
  • API testing experience (Postman, ReadyAPI, etc.)
  • Automated UI testing experience (Cypress, TestComplete, Ranorex, etc.)
  • Manual test execution experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various teams (SW, FW, HW, internal and external customers)
  • Ability to produce test related documentation (test plans, reports, and formalized release documentation)

Education/Experience

  • 4-year degree from regionally accredited university in computer science, software engineering or related field
  • 0-2 years of experience as a software tester and/or programmer
  • Experience with testing robotic platforms a plus
  • Laboratory experience a plus
