Job summary

Space Ground System Solutions seeks a Software Test Engineer to join the VMOC software team. The role focuses on software integration and automated testing within a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate has DoD security clearance, US citizenship, a bachelor's in a relevant field, and at least five years of testing experience. You will design tests, automate scripts, and work across agile teams to ensure quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT).
• Minimum of 5 years' professional software testing experience.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship required.
• Experience designing, developing, and executing test cases.
• Experience with object-oriented development concepts.
• Experience with cloud computing concepts.
• Experience with Unix-based OS and CLI.
• Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium).
• Experience working with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience testing APIs and writing/executing test scripts (JavaScript, Python).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Space Ground System Solutions, a Parsons company, has an immediate, full-time opening for a Software Test Engineer, responsible for software integration and development of the Virtual Mission Operations Center (VMOC) software. This position requires a motivated individual who seeks to work in a team environment where creative solutions are encouraged, and technical challenges are the norm.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze requirements, user stories, and documentation, and confer with internal and external stakeholders, to aid in verification of new features.
• Create and execute automated test scripts to aid in smoke and regression testing.
• Create, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test procedures for feature and regression testing.
• Troubleshoot software system issues and work with other developers and testers to resolve test anomalies.
• Work as an effective team member across multiple disciplines (e.g. systems engineering, software development, configuration management).
• Ability to support multiple Agile teams simultaneously

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (i.e., Computer Science, Software Engineer, Information Technology)
• Minimum of 5 years' professional software testing experience.
• Proven ability to identify and troubleshoot potential software defects.
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with developers to investigate and resolve test anomalies.
• Experience designing, developing, and executing test cases.
• Experience with Object-Orientated Development concepts.
• Experience with cloud computing concepts.
• Experience with Unix based operating systems and the command line interface.
• Experience with test automation tools (e.g. Selenium).
• Experience interacting with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSql).
• Experience testing software application program interfaces (APIs).
• Experience writing and executing test scripts (e.g. JavaScript, Python).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Problem solving capabilities to diagnose and troubleshoot problems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with performance and stress testing concepts and familiarity with performance measurement tools (e.g. JMeter, Prometheus)
• Experience with Atlassian Software Development and Collaboration Tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket etc.)
• Familiarity with Satellite Systems, Satellite Operations, and/or Aerospace Engineering concepts
• Familiarity with continuous integration techniques and technologies
• Familiarity with Agile development concepts
