Job summary

York Space Systems is seeking a candidate with an Aerospace/Software background to expand the SIT team. The role interfaces between developers and internal customers to integrate and test mission-critical software across flight and ground systems, ensuring reliable regression tests and actionable results.

The ideal candidate will improve test automation, diagnose failures across software and infrastructure, and contribute to release readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Aerospace/CS/SE)
• 2+ years in Software Engineering, Testing, or Systems Engineering

We’relooking for a passionate candidate with an Aerospace and Software background to expand our Simulation, Integration, and Test (SIT) team. The SIT department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful deployment and operation of satellites by providing support to critical areas: Flight Software, Ground Software, Vehicle Test, and Mission Operations. The department collaborates with engineering teams to develop andmaintainmodern software engineering solutions that lead to mission success. Additionally, it employs rigorous testing processes tovalidatehardware and software, minimizing risks prior to launch. On the ground, the department supports the seamless operation of ground software systems for satellite communication, monitoring, and control,facilitatingreal-time data analysis and mission management. Together, these efforts ensure that satellites are properly launched, placed into orbit, andoperatedefficiently, supporting a range of applications for our customers.

The ideal candidate will act as a critical interface between developers and internal customers, working across engineering teams to integrate and test mission-critical software. They willidentifyand isolate failures across software, test, infrastructure, and configuration boundaries, then communicate clear, actionable findings to theappropriate stakeholders. Success in this role also requires improving the reliability, repeatability, and automation of regression testing while providingaccuratetest status and risk information to support release decisions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute software integration, regression, and release testing for flight software, ground software, interface middleware, and other SIT products.
• Translate high-level designs, use cases, and requirements intohigh-qualitytest scripts
• Interact with other York departments to support testingusingSIT products
• Support test-like-you-fly, test-driven development for spacecraft flight software, ground software, and space vehicle integration
• Write and execute test plan documents and use cases with collaboration from other York developers
• Perform troubleshooting and debugging of SIT tests and infrastructure
• Develop andmaintainautomated integration tests for ground software and flight software CI/CD pipelines
• Diagnose and triage test failures, pipeline failures, environmental issues, and software defects
• Identifyopportunities to improve test effectiveness, execution efficiency, reliability, observability, and automation coverage
• Follow coding contribution standards and agile development practices
• Create documentation and user guides
• Communicate complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• 2+ Years of experience in Software Engineering, Software Testing, Software Systems Engineering, or related field
• Demonstratedproficiencywith Python
• Experience troubleshooting software behavior across multiple applications, services, interfaces, or system components
• Demonstratedproficiencywith Git and modern Agile software development practices
• Experience working in Linux environments
• Demonstratedproficiencywith bash/shell scripting
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and using or supporting automated build, integration, or test pipelines
• Experience with writing test documentation, such as test plans, procedures, reports, and defect records
• Capable of managing multiple tasks while delivering according to program milestones and release commitments
• Can proactivelyidentifyproblems and communicate them clearly to leadership
• Proficient at technical documentation
• Self-starterwith the ability to pick up new concepts quickly

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, &or anycontainerized environments
• Experience with frontend automation software such as Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, etc.
• Experience with REST APIs, message-based interfaces, and network protocols
