bioMérieux SA is seeking a Software Technical Writer to develop and improve high‑quality technical documentation for enterprise software and IT services in the North American organization.

You will partner with application owners, developers, and business stakeholders to translate complex concepts into clear language, support software implementations and upgrades, and ensure documentation governance and usability across the IS portfolio.

Description

The Software Technical Writer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving high-quality technical documentation that supports enterprise software applications, business systems, IT services, and operational processes across the North American organization. This role partners closely with application owners, developers, business analysts, project managers, infrastructure teams, and end users to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation.

The Technical Writer ensures consistency, usability, and compliance of documentation while supporting software implementations, enhancements, training initiatives, and operational excellence across the IS portfolio.

Primary Duties

1. Create, edit, publish, and maintain technical documentation for enterprise applications, software solutions, integrations, and IT services.
2. Develop end-user guides, administrator manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, knowledge base articles, and process documentation.
3. Collaborate with IS teams, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to gather technical information and documentation requirements.
4. Translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise language appropriate for technical and non-technical audiences.
5. Support software implementation projects by producing documentation for new systems, system enhancements, upgrades, and releases.
6. Maintain documentation standards, templates, style guides, and governance processes across the IS organization.
7. Create process flow diagrams, workflow documentation, system configurations, and application support materials.
8. Support change management and user adoption initiatives through communication and training materials.
9. Review existing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational standards.
10. Manage documentation repositories and ensure version control and document lifecycle management practices are followed.
11. Work with Service Management teams to develop and maintain support knowledge articles and troubleshooting documentation.
12. Participate in testing and validation activities to ensure documentation accurately reflects system functionality and business processes.
13. Identify opportunities to improve documentation quality, accessibility, and user experience.
14. Ensure the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with corporate, regulatory, and security requirements.
15. Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Training and Experience

• Bachelor degree required in Technical Writing, Information Systems, Computer Science, Communications, English, or Journalism
• 2+ years of technical writing experience within Information Technology, Information Systems, software development, or enterprise application environments, including documenting software applications, business processes, and technical systems; collaborating with developers, analysts, project managers, and business stakeholders; and supporting software implementations, system enhancements, and digital transformation initiatives.

Preferred Education, Training and Experience

• Technical Writing certification or related professional credential.
• Experience in a regulated industry such as healthcare, life sciences, diagnostics, manufacturing, or pharmaceuticals.
• Familiarity with software validation, quality systems, and compliance documentation.

• Knowledge of enterprise business applications such as SAP, Salesforce, ERP, CRM, HRIS, or other large-scale platforms preferred.
• Proficiency with documentation and collaboration tools such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Confluence, Jira, Visio, and related platforms.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile, and IT Service Management (ITSM) practices.

The estimated salary range for this role based in Utah is between $81,300 – 97,100. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
