Job summary

Makpar seeks a Software Systems Engineer II to develop, integrate, test, deploy, and support software within an ICAM workstream for a DHS-approved stack. The engineer will commit code regularly to the enterprise repository, maintain unit and automated test coverage, and participate in secure CI/CD deployments.

This is a software engineering role with production accountability. Candidates must be prepared to support Tier 2 and Tier 3 troubleshooting and remain involved after code is deployed.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software development experience using Java.
• Experience with Spring or Spring Boot.
• Experience with Hibernate or comparable Java persistence frameworks.
• Experience with Angular or comparable modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL.
• Experience with Git-based source control and regular code commits.
• Experience developing and maintaining unit or automated tests.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Experience participating in CI/CD software delivery.
• Ability to troubleshoot application and integration issues in non-production and production environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain software for an assigned ICAM workstream.
• Develop application components using Java, Spring, Hibernate, Angular, and MySQL.
• Commit code daily to the approved enterprise repository.
• Participate in source-control branching, peer review, merging, and release-management practices.
• Develop and maintain unit tests and automated test coverage.
• Work with test engineers to resolve defects and validate release readiness.
• Support CI/CD pipeline execution and zero-downtime deployments.
• Develop code that meets security, quality, performance, and Section 508 expectations.
• Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 incident support for assigned applications.
