Software Systems Engineer-Hadoop/Java Developer

America Networks is a leading sensor and networking solutions partner for companies in any Industrial, Manufacturing, and Waste management space. We design and manufacture sensors for storage tanks, water metering, energy metering, gas monitoring, and asset management.

Our founders are hardcore telecommunications engineers with combined 200+ years of experience in designing, optimizing and performance engineering; for several mid – large wireless carriers internationally - that saw a need to provide low power, cost efficient sensors to collect data, create alerts, and predict needed actions. We have combined these sensors with low power, wide area (LPWA) networking technologies to provide clients various options to decrease re-occurring costs associated with operating an IoT network of sensors and connected devices.

We specialize in design, deployment, optimization, and support of these Networks. Whether an off-the-shelf or custom solution is needed, we’ll create a solution and push the data on the best cloud platform to fit your needs, including your own.

Responsibilities

• This role will be responsible for design and implementation of big data analysis application to support VZW device technology.
• Data integration from various data sources.
• Build web service API to support data analytics algorithms.
• Build Android data analytics visualization app.
• Perform data mining to study device performance, quantify device quality, and evaluate device readiness.
• The candidate should have a solid background in data analysis, wireless, and computer science.

Qualifications

Education Requirement: Master or PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information System etc.

Required Experience:

• 6+ years’ hands‑on experience designing and implementing data applications in production using Java/Python/R and etc on big data platform.
• 6+ years’ hands‑on experience with related/complementary open source software platforms and languages such as Java, Linux, Apache, Open Street Map, D3.js and etc.
• Must have proven records of papers published in wireless analytics space in IEEE or other effective journals.
• Must be proficient in the use of different databases such as Spark, Hadoop, Hive, MySQL, TeraData, MS SQL Server, Oracle and etc.
• Must be proficient in the programming languages of Java, Java Scripts, Python, R, HTML and etc.
• Data extraction/transform/load, data mining, and statistical modeling experience required.
• Strong analytical capabilities, creativity and critical thinking required.
• Good mobile telecommunications industry knowledge, including experience with handset manufacturers, network equipment vendors, and/or chipset vendors.
