Software Systems EngineerDescription -The Software Systems Engineer for Advanced Compute Solutions (ACS) Desktop Workstations is responsible for driving end‑to‑end Windows software readiness for sustaining/refresh desktop workstation platforms. This role serves as the technical program owner for Windows OS integration , ensuring on‑time, high‑quality software releases across engineering, ODM partners, factory operations, and sustaining teams.The Software System engineer represents Windows OS, drivers, HP Applications, and validation within the system team and is accountable for schedule execution, issue resolution, and release readiness throughout product lifecycles.Key Responsibilities:Windows Refresh Program OwnershipOwn Windows OS readiness for desktop workstation refresh programs, from early bring‑up through RTM and factory release.Drive end‑to‑end Windows image, driver, application, recovery, and firmware enablement across HP engineering teams and ODM partners.Define and manage Windows scope, milestones, and dependencies aligned to system refresh schedule.Cross‑Functional Technical InteractionServe as the Windows representative on the refresh team coordinating with:Program managementOS Engineering (Windows)BIOS/FW teamsValidation and QualityFactory, PIN, and Supply ChainODM program management and engineering teamsLead technical alignment and decision‑making across stakeholders to resolve integration gaps and risks on refresh programs.Issue Management & EscalationOwn Windows‑related issue resolution/triage, prioritization, tracking, and closure for refresh.Host and drive tiger teams for critical, blocking, aging, or bounce issues.Release & RTM ExecutionEnsure completion of Windows validation and readiness for:Image RTM/ReleaseWeb packages and Windows Update readinessFactory and recovery media enablementDrive Windows RTM communications and ensure downstream alignment across HP.com, factory, and service channels.ODM & Factory EnablementWrites and executes complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application.Coordinate closely with ODM SEPMs to ensure Windows deliverables meet HP quality and schedule targets.Support production line issues and field escalations related to Windows software.Status, Communication & ReportingConsolidate and communicate Windows program status to refresh program management.Maintain clear visibility of risks, dependencies, and recovery plans.Required QualificationsFour-year Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other Engineering related discipline.Typically has 0-2 years of work experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming language, or a related field.Preferred QualificationsDesktop or workstation platform experience.Ability to read, understand, and write simple Windows scripts.Risk management, communication, and presentation skills.Success IndicatorsOn‑time Windows RTM aligned with refresh schedule.Reduced late‑stage integration risk and escalations.Clear ownership and accountability across HP and ODM teams.Predictable, well‑communicated Windows software readiness for refresh platforms.The pay range for this role is $65,600 to $101,000 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only).
