Job description

Crescent Systems Inc., (CSI) – a custom hardware/software engineering company headquartered in Richardson, TX, is seeking a talented System Administrator. The System Administrator will design, develop, and deliver complex state-of-the-art systems across a variety of engineering disciplines for defense department programs. Candidate must be able to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously, and comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions. This System Administrator will belong to a software engineering team interacting with customers, suppliers, program management, test engineers and senior management. The selected candidate will be subject to government security investigations and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding and experience with DoD compliance standards such as STIG and NIST as well as expertise in Windows and Linux servers, routers, and switches. Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications:
  • Deploy and administer Windows and Linux (Debian, Ubuntu) servers, both physical and virtual, ensuring reliability, availability, and security.
  • Implement security measures and controls to protect networks and systems against unauthorized access and cyber threats, ensuring compliance with NIST.
  • Maintain servers, endpoints, and networks; collaborate with team members to deploy updates and patches.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, and software applications.
  • Perform routine system updates, patches, and security fixes.
  • Create and update technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and user guides.
  • Generate reports on system performance, security status, and incident responses.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Equivalent job experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
  • Experience managing and administrating Linux systems, both physical and virtual, in a domain environment.
  • Experience managing and administrating Windows systems, both physical and virtual, in a domain environment.
  • Experience administrating Active Directory, Group Policy, Radius, Network Policy Server, Identity Management, and Certificate Services.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SSL, TLS certificates, PKI certificates.
  • Experience with chrony and ntp.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified Administrator, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), etc., are a plus.
  • Experience with Linux KVM or other hypervisors.
  • Experience with running services as containers
  • Ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Display a keen interest in IT-related work and a desire to learn and grow.
  • Current Secret or Top-Secret Security Clearance
Candidate Must Possess the Ability to:
  • Multi-task, keep records, prepare reports, and follow specific instructions.
  • Effectively carry out difficult and complex tasks while exercising independent judgment and initiative.
  • Perform other duties as required
