Job summary

Daimler Truck North America LLC in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Software Release & Test Management Engineer II to own the Base Rollout Process (BROP). You will define governance, standards, and a scalable framework across SDV programs and regions.

Collaborate with software development, systems engineering, cybersecurity, product management, and validation teams to advance release maturity, measurement, and adoption of best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in software development, software quality, release management, systems engineering, or related technical disciplines.
  • Experience defining, implementing, or governing software lifecycle processes.
  • Experience working within complex cross-functional technical organizations.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and software release methodologies.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives and organizational change efforts.

Inside the Role Inside the Role As the Software Release & Test Management Engineer II, you will serve as the global owner of the Base Rollout Process (BROP), driving the strategy, governance, continuous improvement, and adoption of Daimler Truck's base software rollout framework. You will play a critical role in enabling safe, scalable, and compliant base software rollout across a rapidly growing Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) ecosystem. This role focuses on defining and evolving Base Software rollout processes, establishing governance mechanisms, measuring process effectiveness, and collaborating across global engineering organizations to ensure consistent execution and continuous maturity of software release practices. You will work closely with software development, systems engineering, testing, cybersecurity, product management, program management, and release stakeholders across multiple regions and vehicle platforms.

We Take Care of Our Team Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000 – $121,000 USD Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA
BROP Ownership & Strategy
  • Serve as the global process owner for the Base Rollout Process (BROP).
  • Develop and maintain the BROP framework, standards, policies, templates, and governance model.
  • Support the long-term roadmap for BROP as it aligns with release process maturity and Software Defined Vehicle initiatives.
  • Ensure release management processes remain scalable across vehicle programs, domains, and regions.
  • AI strategic utilization for overall BROP process and development.
Global Process Governance & Compliance
  • Establish global governance mechanisms to drive process adherence and quality.
  • Define process entry and exit criteria, release readiness requirements, and decision frameworks.
  • Conduct process assessments and audits to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure alignment with global quality management, cybersecurity, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Lead collaboration efforts across global engineering, validation, cybersecurity, systems engineering, and product organizations.
  • Facilitate alignment between stakeholders regarding release policies, requirements, and governance expectations.
  • Drive organizational adoption of release management best practices.
  • Influence senior leaders and technical teams to achieve strategic release management objectives.
Continuous Global Process Improvement
  • Establish, monitor, and report on release management metrics, operational metrics, and process maturity indicators.
  • Analyze process performance data to identify trends, risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead global process transformation initiatives that enhance efficiency, transparency, quality, scalability, and delivery predictability.
  • Benchmark industry best practices and integrate lessons learned into release management frameworks, standards, and governance models.
  • Leverage AI, automation, and data-driven insights to continuously improve release planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Leverage continuous global process improvement initiatives to enhance delivery predictability.
  • Serve as a global workgroup lead, driving cross-functional alignment and implementation of process improvements across regions, organizations, and release teams.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by establishing feedback loops, capturing lessons learned, and driving sustainable process adoption.
  • Ensure process improvements are standardized, documented, and consistently implemented across the global release management ecosystem.
SDV Release Enablement
  • Support the evolution of release governance needed for Software Defined Vehicles.
  • Partner with development teams to ensure release frameworks can accommodate increasing software complexity and deployment frequency.
  • Define scalable approaches for software baseline management, release approvals, and rollout governance.
  • Enable repeatable release processes that support future SDV capabilities.
Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
