Job summary

Tycho.AI in Cambridge, MA, is hiring a flight software/test engineer who blends software and aircraft work to bring autonomous systems from pull request to flight. You will own the integration path, deploy features to vehicles, and validate them through SIL, HIL, and flight tests.

Ideal candidates have a degree in CS/EE, hands-on Linux/Git/CI, and experience testing software on hardware like UAS or robotics; familiarity with PX4, MAVLink, ROS2 is a plus. Travel to test sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in CS, aerospace, electrical engineering, or related field.
• Experience integrating and testing software on complex hardware systems (UAS/robotics/automotive).
• Strong scripting and automation skills; read, build, and debug C/C++.
• Experience with test log analysis and data pipelines (MCAP/rosbag, PX4 Flight Review).
• Comfortable with Linux, Git, and CI systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Hands-on experience with simulation and/or HIL test environments.

Responsibilities

• Own integration path from branch to flight: pull branches, build, deploy to vehicle, validate via SIL/HIL/flight test.
• Operate and maintain SIL/HIL simulators for autonomy, perception, and flight control stacks.
• Develop automated regression tests and integrate into CI.
• Plan and execute flight test campaigns: test cards, safety checklists, ground station operations, data analysis.
• Triage failures, reproduce field issues in lab, file well-scoped bug reports with logs and repro steps.
• Build tooling for log ingestion, flight data review, and test reporting; maintain traceability between builds and flight results.

• Comfortable with Linux, Git, and CI systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar).




• Hands-on experience with simulation and/or hardware-in-the-loop test environments.




• Willingness to work in the field: travel to test sites, early mornings, variable weather, and hands-on time with vehicles.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink, ROS2, ground control station etc.




• Prior UAS flight test, range operations, or test engineering experience; Part 107 certification.




• Familiarity with GPS-denied navigation, VIO/SLAM, or sensor fusion systems and their failure modes.
