Meet the Team

The Common Hardware Group (CHG) creates innovative hardware platforms central to the AI era, powering Cisco’s core Switching, Routing, and Wireless products for organizations globally. Our innovations in silicon, optics, and hardware platforms—like Silicon One—are shaping the technology industry. We're a global team of creative experts, bringing our unique backgrounds and bold ideas to push boundaries and help each other grow. Because full product development—from design to qualification to production—is within our team, we’re able to think differently, experiment more, and work quickly. Join us to power the future of the digital world.

Your Impact

Build software systems for analyzing DVT test results, hardware configurations, and failure behavior to enable engineers to investigate hardware failures across platforms without manual log searching. Develop workflows supporting fault isolation, comparative test analysis, and identification of recurring failure signatures to streamline diagnostic processes. Apply advanced software and AI techniques to complex hardware telemetry data, including ASICs, optics, power, and environmental metrics. Collaborate across the product lifecycle—from design to production—to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions that enhance the reliability of Cisco’s core networking hardware. Deliver high-impact software architectures that serve as the backbone for next-generation hardware diagnostics and engineering efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 10+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience building production services using Python, FastAPI, LangGraph, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, AWS Bedrock, OpenSearch, Docker, Kubernetes, and EKS.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting event-driven ingestion workflows using AWS services to process, validate, and normalize large volumes of structured and unstructured engineering data.
  • Experience with metadata-driven and hybrid retrieval approaches for investigating test runs, hardware inventory, system configuration, and diagnostic outputs.
  • Knowledge of reusable software architecture patterns for AI copilots, data-access tools, and production agent systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, with the ability to resolve defects from kernel modules to application layers.
  • Experience with collaborative system design, specification writing, and cross-functional requirements review.
  • Commitment to quality, technical mentoring, and continuous learning in networking, optics, and embedded systems.
  • Technical proficiency in AI/ML applications and knowledge of Layer 2/3 network protocols.
  • Familiarity with network processors, optical networking, secure-boot, open-source tools, and CMIS/SFF standards (SFP, QSFP).
