Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for the gWindows, Infrastructure team. You will lead engineers, own project outcomes, and guide technical direction across Windows-focused infrastructure at scale.

You will mentor teams, influence product strategy, and collaborate across Sunnyvale and New York sites, driving large-scale systems and infrastructure initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software development.
• 5+ years of experience with Linux and Windows administration in on-premises or cloud environments.
• 3+ years of experience with large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or related compute/storage/hardware experience.
• 3+ years in a technical leadership role.
• 2+ years in a people management or team leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Set and communicate team priorities to align with organizational goals across multiple teams.
• Set expectations with individuals based on level and role, conduct performance and development discussions, and provide coaching.
• Develop mid-term technical roadmap within scope of multiple teams, adapting to future infrastructure needs.
• Design, guide, and review system designs, and write product or system development code to solve problems.
• Review code from engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices and testability.

These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits.

Responsibilities

• Set and communicate team priorities that support the organization's goals, aligning strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
• Set expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the organization's goals, meeting regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.
• Develop the mid-term technical roadmap within the scope of your (often multiple) teams, evolving the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
• Design, guide, and vet systems designs within the scope of the area, and write product or system development code to solve problems.
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, and testability).
