Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a multi-team group within the Core team. You will drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, and coordinate cross-functional projects spanning AI, security, and cloud infrastructure.

You will guide architecture decisions and help shape product direction while delivering high-impact results. You will manage a team across multiple sites, align priorities with business goals, and ensure scalable, secure deployments in Google Cloud.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 2 years in a people management or leadership role.
• Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.
• Master’s or PhD in CS or related field preferred.
• 3 years in a complex, matrixed organization preferred.
• Experience building execution runtimes or sandboxes for AI/ML workloads or autonomous agent frameworks.
• Experience migrating corporate customers or onboarding workflows at scale.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud security products and advanced networking tech.

Minimum qualifications

• Experience managing corporate customer migration, intake pipelines, or onboarding workflows at scale.


• Familiarity with Google Cloud security products (such as VPC Service Controls and Cloud Firewalls), as well as advanced networking technologies like eBPF network policies, Cilium, and Envoy sidecar proxies.


• Familiarity with Google-internal production primitives and data access layers (F1, Spanner).

In this role, you will lead a newly consolidated engineering team that merges two critical workstreams: The former Cloud AI Solutions team and The former Corp Run team. This unified team will serve as the engine room for Cloud for Alphabet (C4A) and Project Reef (making "intent become infrastructure"). The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products.
