Job summary

General Matter is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to help develop performant, safe, high-quality software where reliability and safety are paramount. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering disciplines in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.

Interns contribute to design reviews, build automated tests and CI/CD pipelines, and gain exposure to fault-tolerant systems and real-time data workflows. This internship offers a housing stipend and overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
• Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and system design.
• Collaborative team member who thrives in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments and is eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and implementing high-performance software systems in C++ and Python, focusing on reliability and maintainability.
• Support architecture decisions around system design, performance trade-offs, and technology selection.
• Participate in design and code reviews, upholding engineering best practices.
• Help build and maintain automated testing and CI/CD pipelines for software quality at scale.
• Work closely with senior engineers on complex technical problems.
