Job summary

Raytheon invites students to join the Raytheon Fellowship Program in State College, PA for Summer 2027 as software developers in a coordinated team. You will intern on a development project within a vibrant aerospace and defense environment.

Eligible candidates are enrolled in a Bachelor’s or higher in CS/CE/SE, have Java in Unix/Linux, and familiarity with Agile and Git. A U.S. government-issued security clearance is required after acceptance.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or higher degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field and will be at minimum Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post Grad by summer 2027.
• Software development experience with Java in a Unix/Linux environment
• Familiarity with agile development and version control systems such as GIT

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing development, integration, test and documentation duties to ensure proper operation of hardware and software platforms.
• Integrate a wide variety of applications from various sources, integrate and ensure they meet performance standards for stability and utilization
• Develop software as necessary to integrate between components, perform new capabilities, to facilitate testing, etc.
• Adhere to accepted standards for development, including writing unit tests which provide a high percentage of code overage, participating in code peer reviews, conducting design reviews, and generating test plans to ensure maximum stability and quality of code

About the Raytheon Fellowship Program

• Seeking students in their sophomore or junior year or seniors if pursuing a master’s.
• Upon program acceptance, participants will be submitted for a national security clearance.
• Participants may be eligible to receive a $10,000 signing bonus, and an additional $10,000 signing bonus upon converting to full-time employee status post-graduation (payable within 60 days of employment and subject to all applicable withholdings).
• Participants will sign an offer agreement, committing to remain with Raytheon for a minimum of two years after becoming a full-time employee.

What You Will Do

• Familiarity with agile development and version control systems such as GIT

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with scripting languages such as Python
• Familiarity with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins or Maven or GITLAB
• Experience or familiarity with Agile development practices

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
